Going back to my hometown was NOT part of the plan!
Jude and his cousins have been planning a road trip since they were teenagers to find their sparks. Lady Fate had other plans, leading him straight to his true mate without even leaving town. Jude and Carlos might not get off on the best foot, but Jude is determined to find his place in this new found family.
Carlos has been running from his past and keeping his animal form a secret for years. After meeting his true mate, his hunting crew finds a case in his hometown. Can Carlos learn to lean on his true mate while dealing with the stress of confronting his past?
Hunting for Magic is book four in A Collection of Hunters series and though it is a standalone, is best enjoyed in order. Inside you’ll find magic, familiar and spark bonds, shifters, mpreg, found family, a cursed rabbit’s foot, and of course, a happily ever after.
REVIEW:
This appears to be the conclusion to the Collection of Hunters series. Each of the band of found family hunters has found their fated mate/mates and have started a family.
Now it was the mysterious Carlos’s turn. However his fated mate walked right past him to latch on to Cooper. Turns out that Carlos’s mate Jude is Cooper’s familiar and now the spark inside of Cooper has united with Jude’s familiar and Cooper can use his gift of magic he feared all this time he couldn’t discover.
But don’t get too concerned that their mating didn’t work. Jude was beyond thrilled to be able to use his familiar and connect with Cooper but he is instantly taken by Carlos…who has been hiding that he’s a shifter…a hellhound shifter that ran away from his parents as a teen to protect them from an evil hunter.
I will admit that this collection has challenged me. Yes I knew about vampires and shifters but the whole magical side was completely new to me.
This book served two purposes. One, it finally gave the baby of their group, Carlos a mate and allowed him to come clean with his found family of what he was. Two, it tied up the loose ends of poor Cooper and his dismay of being born to two sparks but not having any magic although he basically became a treasure chest of information on all sides of mystical creatures and the magic surrounding them. I was pleased that the author found a way for them all to be together and safely raise their new families while still being a guiding force to fight the evils in the world. Their new home area would be aptly named A Safe Haven and it would be totally fitting. Although this was wrapped up nicely in a short novella I’m sad to see this end and felt that Carlos’s story could have been a bit more complex.
I am wondering if this series is going to have a spin-off series of Jude’s cousins finding their sparks and uniting with them with their familiar.
