Are we destined to be star-crossed lovers or is Fate on our side?
My friends are finding mates while I’m stuck with a sexy but silent vampire. Sure, Pietro is everything a boy could want- handsome, strong, brooding, and possessive. It’s just that with my gift, I’m well aware that he’s not the one fate has in store for me. He couldn’t be. For one thing, his mercury is always in retrograde.
Besides, we have bigger issues to deal with than romance. We’re at war with a real jerk, and it’s only getting worse. If I’m going to be helpful, I’ll need to focus and listen to the stars, not stare at Pietro’s gorgeous face. I live my life with light and stardust while who even knows where Pietro’s thoughts are. Even I can’t get in his head.
Everything changes when we go on a quest to find a missing witch who just might be possessed. I meet a person who sees more than I do, and he’s got a feeling about me. If I listen to him, and convince the vampire it’s real, I might just get everything I ever hoped for. That is, if this war doesn’t ruin everything before it even begins.
Cosmic Spells and Vampire Lairs is an MM paranormal romance featuring a cosmic witch with his head in the stars, a pining and brooding vampire, more demons doing bad things, and a deepening mystery that leads to a dangerous discovery. It is book four in the Covens of Eaton Falls series. Each book features a different couple with an ongoing conflict and therefore should be read in order.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the fourth book in this series and contains major spoilers for the previous books and builds directly on a common story arc. It is recommended to read the series in order 🙂
This story picks up pretty much right after the events of the previous book. Callisto is a witch with seeing powers. He sees some pretty terrible things – some visions of the future and some things that are happening that he knows he needs to stop. He is living with Pietro, one of the vampire brothers. Pietro adores Callisto, but tries to stay away from him. He does not believe that he is deserving of such a beautiful and talented man. He tries to give Callisto space. For his part, Callisto wants what he sees his friends having – a fated mate. He doesn’t believe that is Pietro.
While they grow closer, there is trouble afoot. Prince is missing. The vampires and their witch mates are worried. They all need to work together to find him and so there is a road trip 🙂 To NOLA!
So it took me a little while to get back into this world. There are a LOT of characters and couples and I had to refresh a bit since it’s been six months since the last book and I read/listened to a LOT of books since then. Once I got back into it, I really enjoyed the romance between Callisto and Pietro. They are so different, yet the end up complimenting each other so well. Callisto’s abilities and guidance from the stars and the cosmos was so interesting and new. Pietro’s dark history was something new to discover too. These two are soooo romantic too! It took a while for Callisto to figure out what Pietro really was to him and was a bit jarring for him. The charts and stars he has relied on may not be all he has thought. I so enjoyed the slow burn of this romance between these two opposites. Honestly I think it’s my favorite book of the series so far. The slow reveal as we are getting closer to The Beautiful One is intriguing and I am really liking this arc now. I can’t wait until March for the next book. Recommended!
