To Rudy’s great relief, the federal agents leave, and their scents don’t interest him. Even in camel form, Rudy makes it known that the visiting human—Gary Badoga—is his mate. Upon learning that Gary’s head has been filled with lies about shifters by witches, can Rudy figure out a way to connect when Gary seems afraid of his animal?

Note: This is the 33nd book in this series, but it works as a stand alone as long as the reader has some knowledge of this paranormal world.
Rudy is a camel shifter who had been taken by a coven of witches and put into an exotic petting zoo. He had been taken while driving home one night and the witches did something to him to keep him in his shifter form. He has been stuck as his camel for 6 years! After he and the other shifters had been freed by some demons, they were taken to Kontra’s ragtag pack in Louisiana where they were staying. While there, Rudy detects his mate. But Gary, the mate, an accountant who has been looking for his best friend Evan, knows nothing about shifters – because the witches lied to him and Evan.
Evan, one of the MCs from a pervious book, has found his mate with this pack. He also discovered that he is a warlock and so others are helping him get a handle on his powers. Evan has to help convince Gary that he is Rudy’s mate and that what they were told about shifters was all wrong. They are wild aggressive creatures at all! Rudy does his best to woo Gary, but he hasn’t even been in human form for 6 years and he’s used to being a bit of a loner. But he does manage to get with program with some help.
I had a little trouble connecting with these two. This is sort of a shorter story in this series and I would have liked so have more of the whole pack. I am looking forward to the next one, as we already have an idea of who has found his mate next 🙂 There isn’t a lot of Kontra in this one, but we did get some funny moments with Payson. Fans of the series will probably enjoy this one.
