Discovering you’re not as straight as you thought when you’re in your mid-forties is… well… interesting. But a one-night stand over a year ago turned my world upside down, and now I’m ready to explore that side of myself. But no matter who I date, no one compares to him.
Case
I’m the party guy, always down for a good time with only one rule: I don’t do repeats. I knew right away, though, that one night with Matt would never be enough. But when I woke up, he was gone, and I can’t get him out of my head.
When we somehow end up trapped together during the blizzard of the century, over Christmas, I’m not sure if it’s a gift or a curse. Should I hold tight to the rule that’s kept my heart safe for years? Or does it mean something that we’ve found each other again after a night neither one of us could forget?
An Unexpected Gift is a steamy, second-chance, bi-awakening romance featuring an unforgettable one-night-stand, A middle-aged tech CEO still figuring out who he is, and a good-time-guy who doesn’t know what to do when he finds someone he wants more than one night with.
REVIEW:
This is both a new-to-me author and series that I look forward to exploring more!
Matt’s life is severely changing. He’s getting a divorce from the mother of his children who is also his best friend. And a guy is looking at him from across the bar at the hotel he’s staying at and he likes it. After a few cocktails Matt decides to leave responsible and always in control CEO Matthew at the table and go explore free Matt and what he discovers blows his mind…maybe he’s not as straight as he has thought these fast 40+ years!
I really enjoyed the chemistry between these two guys. I get that Matt would have a panic attack waking up in the arms of a man in a strange hotel room when the thought he was straight all these many years. And just trying to get out before he embarrassed himself made sense. I did find it ironic that both men suffered from panic attacks from different triggers. And Cash being a psychologist would have understood better than most how shocking this revelation was for Matt.
I loved the twist that Matt and Cash each knew Hunter and Penn through different ways and they both wound up in the most amazing cabin snowed in together which eventually forced them to talk everything out. The fact that both men had been literally pining for “the one that got away” even if they didn’t realize that’s what they were doing makes this even more sweet.
I think what I really loved was the two women in their lives, Michele – Matt’s ex and Sophie – Cash’s Mom, both realized that something major changed in each man’s life almost immediately and gave them each “the talk”! Life is too short and unpredictable and true love is too precious to squander.
This was an unexpected treat that I throughly enjoyed and can’t wait to read the rest of the series and new ones to come.
