I’m pregnant.
Just when I was starting to get used to being alone in my own head, now I’m possessed in a whole new way. And apparently, I’m an omega, which seems to be code for “magical thot who gets harassed by every alpha within a hundred miles.”
The worst part is, I don’t even know which one of these bloodthirsty douchebags knocked me up. With my luck, it’s probably Cameron, who sees me and the baby as a threat to his precious goddess, especially now that she’s gone MIA.
Weirdly enough, the news has caused a split within the cult, pitting brother against brother. Even though I thought they’d all be on the same side, now Sam, Cyrus, and (ugh) Alex claim they’ll do whatever it takes to protect me and the baby. Even if it means going up against Ichor and
the rest of her cult.
Obviously, I don’t trust them. I might be a “dumb blond,” but I don’t need to get sacrificed twice to learn that lesson.
If only my traitorous heart would get the memo.
REVIEW:
It was great to read book 2, following all the twists and turns in book 1 I was eager to see what happened in book 2 and it didn’t disappoint.
Chase remains the snarky character we met in book 1, despite forming a sort of relationship with the 4 guys, he is extremely wary of all of them, despite their ongoing intimacy he is always waiting for the other shoe to drop and after what happened before no one could blame him. The deity which had been inside his head has suddenly gone missing and Chase finds out he is pregnant. The double bombshell splits the group leaving Cyrus, Sam and Alex being protective of Chase and the baby, with Cameron on the outer with the group as his agenda is very different.
It was interesting to see how the relationships between the four developed, Chase whilst still not forgiving them for sacrificing him. Feels drawn to them all, Alex is still out in the cold, but Sam and Cyrus are worming their way into his feelings. He keeps reminding himself why it’s a bad idea but with a baby on the way, no idea who the father is; they all seem to be making it work.
Chase continues to find out more about his four guys past lives and how being a vessel for Ichor is supposed to work. Ichor is missing but Chase has magic of his own, or is it because he is pregnant? Everyone’s loyalty is tested, are they all going to remain true to serving Ichor, who has killed them all at one time or another over the centuries. Or will their feelings for Chase remain true.
Cameron is becoming one of my favourite characters, after Chase, he is clinging to his beloved Goddess but his doubts are rising, he is forcing them down but they are there lingering in the depths of his being. He worries about the pregnancy and what that could mean for the vessel and Ichor. He is unapologetic about his disdain for Chase, which has carried through from book 1, they have a hate, hate, attracted but fighting it, relationship which I loved.
The twists keep coming and Chase finding out about his Father from his Mom was the funniest thing, the incredulity and sheer what are you talking about was sublime. This was one piece of the jigsaw that made Chase’s power understandable.
The pregnancy divides the group and Cyrus, Sam, Alex and Chase end up running from Cameron worried about what he might be planning and feeling that this is the best course of action to keep Chase safe. The book ends on another slight cliffhanger.
