REVIEW:
Insta-love/lust at warp speed.
Kellan is on the crux of adopting his sweet 4-year old twin girls that he has been fostering. He wants to make this Christmas perfect and Riley and Ana want a puppy for Christmas and the Pomeranian puppy that finally came available at Maple Oak Acres Ranch three and a half hours away is the one! But Mother Nature has a different plan for Kellan that literally drops him in the arms of the Ranch’s owner. Even though Eli and Kellan have an instant connection Kellan has commitments and the girls are his #1 priority! But how can he give up on Eli and everything that’s roaring between them?
I will say, this is the fastest zero-to-sixty not knowing each other to literally jumping in bed novella I think I have ever read. I confused me that Kellan is expected back in Manhattan that evening and he doesn’t even ask to use Eli’s phone to check in. This is the very first time not spending the night with his girls and he doesn’t let anyone know he’s okay in the middle of a giant storm that left him stranded and not coming back. It just didn’t compute for me when he’s this über in control guy but let’s a fling short circuit his brain to not even check in until later the next day? Especially when he is trying to get his girls permanently. Also, if he’s so head-over-heels for Eli then why did he wait three weeks to call. Did he even text to let him know he and Pip, the puppy, made it back to Manhattan after he fixed his car? I don’t think so because he didn’t even know how Eli had saved his contact info. I get that his brain was totally consumed by the red-hot, all, consuming chemistry and sex but it just didn’t track for me.
I will admit that these two worked for me as a couple. They complimented each other and completed their lives that they didn’t realize weren’t complete. And I loved that Kellan’s girls instantly accepted Eli into their family. He may have appeared gruff but his heart opened immediately for those two sweet cherubs just as much as it did for Kellan.
If you are in the mood for a insta-love, quick read Christmas book then then this one’s for you.
