REVIEW:
Shadow Elite is a spinoff from the Exit Strategy series by Ms. Jocelynn Drake. It follows a group of men who have been together since their army days, worked so well as a group that they decided to go into business on their own when they decided to leave government service.
Kairo’s Billionaire is the second book after Charlie’s Doctor. Kairo Jones is the group’s technical guy. He usually takes care of computer-related details of the mission. After a very successful mission and while the group was unwinding in a bar, Kairo was kidnapped and taken to Greece where he was told kindly that he was kidnapped in order to helped another kidnapped person, billionaire Isidore Panopoulos.
Isidore owns a company that caters to millions of clients and their kidnappers want their data. Isidore specifically wanted Kairo because of his best friend’s recommendation. He wanted to hire Kairo in order to fake the information needed by the kidnappers and to protect his sister Athena. If he could be saved too, then that is a bonus.
When Kairo learned all of this, he started formulating a plan for their escape and to get word to his friends so that they could all help the Panopoulos siblings.
Isidore is very kind, very sweet and he always thinks of himself last on all things. Right now, his main focus is the safety of his sister and the safety of the information entrusted by people to his company. His parents would be devastated if they learned that he succumbed to his kidnappers’ demands.
Kairo has never met anyone like Isidore. He never believes that there is anyone like Isidore in all the world. But he will not allow Isidore to sacrifice himself for his own safety (Kairo’s) and his sister’s. He will save all of them and create a perfect hack that will make their kidnappers believe that they got what they wanted.
Of course when the whole team arrives, teasing ensues especially when they all notice the special connection Kairo has with Isidore. But as family goes, it all comes as part of being with the people you love and respect the most. Add to that Soren and Alexie and special appearances of our old loves, we are all in for a wild ride (evil laugh here),
I love Ms. Jocelynn Drake’s books, all of them have family/chosen family in them, you will find support, acceptance and that all of them will do anything in order to protect family and loved ones. I will not say they are just friends because all these guys are each other’s family, they are beyond friends. If you enjoy Ms. Drake’s previous books then this is another to add to the list, you will love these guys and root for them all the way. There is excitement and action, so much travel and smart (sometimes not) banter among these guys. I can’t wait for more.
Congratulations Ms. Jocelynn Drake!
