If three’s a crowd, what does that make four?
My love life, apparently. Now I’m on the run with Cyrus, Sam, and Alex, and that’s not even accounting for the fact that I’m pregnant—with twins—and my overbearing mother is along for the ride.
Oh, and did I mention I found out Zeus is my father? Yeah, that Zeus. Turns out Cameron’s not the only one who’s been hunting me down. And I might have to rely on my not-so-absent dad to protect me from the relentless vampire who’s probably the father of my children.
Can you get a bulk discount on paternity tests? Because I’m going to need around half a dozen to sort this shit out.
REVIEW:
I was so excited to get back into this series, I thought that this book 3, was the final book, but I was wrong. Once again, this book is filled with twists and turns and there were many unexpected revelations.
Chase continues to be a delight; they are on the run from Cameron, and he is also worried about his Father coming for him. I really enjoyed how the mythology of the gods was woven into the plot.
Cameron is conflicted but is determined to stay the course he has set for himself, despite his doubts and rising feelings for Chase. I really wanted to scream at him, you know this is wrong and not what you really want, don’t do it. Cameron is so stubborn clinging onto Ichor and his past with her. More snippets emerge from the past and the role Ichor has played between the brothers.
Chase is also conflicted about his feelings for Cameron and despite being frightened about what he might do, he also misses him and worries about him. Though he keeps telling himself, he shouldn’t care what happens to Cameron.
Cameron finally meets his Father and realises that all the fears his mother has had for him are true. He just sees Cameron as a bargaining chip that he is prepared to sell to the highest bidder. The fact that the highest bidder is Chase’s Uncle doesn’t seem to phase Zeus.
It was wonderful to see Cameron switch sides and save Chase on Olympus, making their way from Olympus through the underworld and back to the physical plane. The description of Olympus and the trials and tribulations they faced as they made their escape were on point. I had thought Cameron made his choice with that action but once again he surprised me.
I was surprised that despite being twins and having such a long history that the bonds between Cyrus and Cameron were easily broken. Cyrus feels that Cameron is irredeemable, and Cameron feels that Cyrus is an obstacle to his plans for Chase. Chase has strengthened his bonds to Cyrus and Sam and is even thawing towards Alex, I did start to feel a bit sorry for Alex as the others sins against Chase were just as bad but Chase seems to have forgiven them very easily, but is holding on big time to his grudge against Alex.
The foursome seems to be fractured beyond repair, but Chase is not giving up on Cameron and feels his pain, is Cameron beyond redemption. I can’t wait to find out.
