The first rule of being an attorney is don’t sleep with your clients.
The second rule is–see the first rule.
Those guidelines don’t account for a man like Zane Archer though. The major leaguer is all confidence and big D energy as he swaggers into my life one night at a hotel bar, determined to spend the night with “the sexy suit,” as he calls me.
I’m so damn tempted to say yes, especially when my new client devastates me with a scorching kiss that has me reconsidering all my life choices.
The catch? If I tear up the rule book, my reputation as a lawyer to the most bankable stars in pro sports is on the line. Including my new goal of striking the deal of a lifetime for him — one he desperately needs to take care of his family.
Instead, I fight like hell to stay professional as I work closely with the man I can’t have.
But the more time we spend together, the more his irresistible charm threatens to break my resolve . . . right along with my heart.
TURN ME ON is forbidden MM sports romance between a sports agent and an athlete…
REVIEW:
Lauren Blakely’s new sports romance, Turn Me On, features a baseball player and his new agent who are on the verge of falling in love, but it is strictly forbidden for them to do so. Zane is an up and coming first base player who needs a big advertising deal to cement his rise as a player. His existing agent is about to introduce him to a new man in his agency, Maddox, who he has picked to rep Zane. Before they’re introduced, however, they see each other in a bar and the instant attraction is undeniable. But Maddox knows sleeping with a client is unethical.
That fact doesn’t assuage their growing crushes on each other. Zane is relentless in his pursuit of Maddox; he’s playing a dangerous game with his incessant flirting. By the time they start sharing their fantasies, they’re too far gone to stop. If caught, Maddox knows his current clients will be angry at the perceived favoritism. Worse, Maddox would likely lose his job and be blacklisted by other firms. He loves his career too much to lose it. Certain body parts just don’t care about that, though, so Maddox’s logic flies out the window.
There’s lots of “we can’t do this again” and guilty feelings; they both know they need to stop but they can’t resist the incredible pull of their intense chemistry. Naturally, they hook up. Maddox wants to be dominated in bed but it’s rare for him to be with a man who can give him that. It fits Zane’s desires perfectly, of course. (Zane’s domineering dirty talk is delicious!) Soon, they realize they want each other for more than sex – they want to share their days with each other, talking, laughing, and supporting each other in their lives. Zane doesn’t like the secrecy they need to maintain but there’s no way around it to keep Maddox’s job safe.
This entertaining book continues the author’s streak of successful sports romance novels. The tone is similar to that in her previous work so if you loved those, you should enjoy this one too. Both characters are highly likable, individually and as a couple. The sexual tension is strong and when they’re together, the pages catch fire. The heat is increased by some light kink. And her signature double epilogues – one each in Zane and Maddox’s point of view – cement their future.
You can’t go wrong with this sexy story. I can’t wait for the next book in the Winner Takes All series. Recommended.
