An FF Holiday Romance
Blurb
Morgan loves three things; Books, women, and being single. But when Grad school costs more than her rent, she needs to come up with a way to make some money and fast. After a one-night stand with a beautiful woman, she wakes the next morning in a hurry to make it to her interview as a live-in nanny.
Despite acing the interview, she has to pass one final test; meeting the mother—who just so happens to be her one-night stand. They both decide to call it a one-night thing and move forward, with Morgan becoming her son’s nanny.
As a divorced, single mom Lucy can get all the help she needs. But as the mistletoe is hung and the stockings are filled, are sparks flying too? As Lucy begins to fall for her son’s nanny, she shows her love in a series of her favorite books. Counting down the 24 days of Christmas with Morgan, by trying to tell her how she feels, worried she doesn’t feel the same.
Morgan devours each book, desperate to know if Lucy is sending her a sign. But as Christmas approaches, will each woman get what they want? Or will they be stuck out in the cold as the days of Morgan’s nannying contract are up?
“What about that nanny job you told me about?” Ellie perks up.
“What nanny job?” I look at Bella confused.
“Oh, one of the women I’ve been out with mentioned her friend needing a nanny. She thought maybe I’d know someone who was interested.” She says with a shrug, her jet black hair lightly bouncing.
“You didn’t think of me?” I was literally going to college to become a teacher, I already had half degree in education.
“You were working at the bar, I didn’t know you’d quit.” She says with a chuckle.
“Well, call your work friend. Get me an interview!” I say picking up her phone and handing it to her.
“Are you sure? I think it’s a live in nanny position.”
“I’m desperate. I can’t get a teaching job until I finish my degree, and I can’t finish my degree until I can meet minimum payments again.” I sigh. Fuck the government for telling me my parents make too much money when I was the one paying for my own college.
“Okay, but let me text her.” She smiles. Her fingers dancing across the keys with a small smile on her face.
“You’d really live at someone’s house and nanny their kid?” Ellie asks raising an eyebrow.
“I mean that’s no rent payment on top of being paid to basically babysit. I don’t see the big deal.” I shrug. I had worse jobs.
“She said she’s going to text her friend and see when she can get you an interview.” Bella announces with a smile.
“Thank you!” I hug my friend tightly and down another shot. “Now to make this night even better, let’s find someone to go home with it.”
“Oh no, not me.” Bella says shyly. One night stands weren’t her cup of tea, which confused Ellie and I when she told us her idea to be an escort. She said she only had to go on dates with guys and at least she was being paid if it was a crappy time.
“I already see my type.” Ellie pushes her large breasts together, pulling her shirt down just enough to expose them and fluffs her bright pink hair. “See you guys.”
She makes her way across the bar to the blonde with pixie cut short hair and begins chatting her up immediately. It was no secret she had a type, but it was always impressive how quickly she could put the moves on and get someone to buy her a drink or take her home.
“What about you?” Bella asks.
She knew my type was a little more particular. I wasn’t much of a relationship gal, so I tended to go for the one night stand type. Which varied depending on the day of the week and the crowd of the bar. Tonight I hadn’t noticed anyone yet but the night was still young. Trying to flag down our bartender with no luck, I decide to go to the actual bar and get them myself. My buzz was starting to wear off and that just wouldn’t do.
“Good luck, he’s been flirting with that blonde at the end of the bar for twenty-minutes.” A woman says as I try to get the attention of the only bartender.
I’m about to make a sassy comment when I notice the woman for the first time. She’s got this beautiful blonde hair cascading down her back, and despite being at least a good decade older than me she was exactly my type. I straighten up a little and smile at her.
“Can I buy you a drink?”
“If you can get his attention, sure.” She laughs lightly.
“Yo! I need a drink please!” I shout toward the bartender. He looks annoyed but walks over.
“Yes?”
“A vodka cranberry and whatever she’s having,” I pull out my wallet.
“I’ll have the same,” the woman says with a smile. The bartender gets us both, then goes on to help the other customers he had been ignoring.
“I’m impressed, I thought I’d be going home sober at that rate.” The woman jokes.
“Well, we can’t have that, can we?” I tease. “I’m Morgan.”
“Lucy,” she shakes my hand.
“Do you come here often?”
“Oh my gosh, please don’t tell me that’s your line. That was absolutely terrible.” She laughs.
“No, I actually mean it. I come here a lot with friends and I’ve never seen you before.”
“Maybe you just didn’t notice me.” She shrugs.
“Oh no, I would’ve noticed you.”
A blush creeps across her cheeks and I smile. There was an ease about her I hadn’t felt with other women. Something that made me want to get to know her, learn more about her, not just her body. Of course that doesn’t stop me when the words slip from her lips.
“Do you want to get out of here?”
