I’ve got three rules for hookups: no straight boys, no university students, and no relationships. My life is finally normal after breaking up with my asshole ex, and I don’t need that kind of drama. So when I meet Hatch, former athlete, current brainiac, and self-professed hetero looking to experiment, it should be an easy call. But it’s not.
One kiss can’t hurt—right?
Except Hatch shows up to my LGBTQ kids camp the next morning asking to volunteer. It’s like being stalked by an overgrown puppy.
Hatch wants me to show him the gay world. I can’t stop thinking about the way he tastes. And the more time we spend together, the more I realize the sweet, considerate, and submissive guy under the bluster is worth getting to know. But is he worth breaking all three of my rules for?
HATCH
I’m not gay, but I’ve always gotten in trouble for looking at pretty guys. Like Eddie, whose makeup and piercings give me a whole lot of fluttery feelings. Eddie doesn’t think much of me, but I can’t stop staring at him. And after a kiss that blows my mind I’m dying to see more of him. I want to figure out the vulnerable guy I caught a glimpse of under that snarky exterior.
I should be focused on my overdue thesis, because without a master’s degree in social work I won’t be able to get a job helping kids like my sister. But Eddie’s unapologetic confidence and take charge attitude are addictive to be around. He’s exactly what I need when I’m floundering through everything else in my life.
When we’re together he doesn’t just see a meathead out of his element in academia. He sees the real me.
But Eddie’s put up walls to protect himself from guys like me, and if I want him I’m gonna have to prove I’m all in.
STRAIGHT BOY SUMMER is a bisexual awakening MM romance featuring a straight guy with no boundaries, a bossy size queen, and a summer of self-discovery.
REVIEW:
I love a good series and this one is!
Hatch, Aleksei’s former roommate and fellow grad student, is having a rough time of it and he’s questioning everything. He’s questioning his thesis, he’s questioning his being a grad student and now, after that kiss, he’s questioning his sexuality at 27! So, to say he’s a tad bit confused is a understatement. Eddie avoids relationships like he avoids the plague. His track record with former boyfriends is nothing to brag about so snarky, sassy and unreachable works well for him. Or at least it did until Hatch came into the picture all sweet, submissive and ready to explore his newly realized bisexuality. But is this just a Straight Boy Summer of exploration or is this the real thing for both men???
This has a few tropes I really like. First of all the smaller man being the dominate is always a plus. And Eddie had that in spades. Plus Hatch was the perfect submissive. He just wanted to be told what to do and that made total sense with all the turmoil in his life. I just wanted to throttle that good-for-nothing advisor Professor Carlson he had. He contributed so much to Hatch’s self-doubt and almost cost him a chance at the career he was so completely perfect for. What a loss that would have been for all…especially the kids who need someone like him the most! It also has the sweet vs sassy that I love in opposites attract books
I always like it when men from the former books in a series make appearance and we were pleasantly afforded several drop ins by Logan, Aleksei, Jay and even David. And they weren’t just there to make an appearance but to help out when things got rough. I loved that.
The only thing that was a tad bit weird was the timing of release of a summer fun book in December. Yes, the epilogue mentioned Christmas coming soon and that it was colder than usual for Western Canada, but the majority of the book was based in the summer and battling the heat which was harder because I was fighting to get and keep warm while reading about how hot it was. Not a huge problem by any means but just an observation on timing.
I don’t know if there are more books to come in this series but I am hoping that we get at least Sean’s book because he deserves an HEA after all he did to help get Eddie and Hatch theirs.
