Detective Quinn Hughes doesn’t have many regrets in life, but Sebastian Devlin is the biggest. As a cop and a defence lawyer, the deck was stacked against them to start with, but Quinn was the one who left a burning inferno behind him. Missing his chance with ex-Special Forces Commando Peyton Sinclair is a close second on his regrets list, but Quinn isn’t going to ruin the happiness Peyton has found with fellow police officer Will McMahon for anything—not even a chance at his own happiness.
Best friends Will McMahon and Peyton Sinclair have been hooking up for years, content with their arrangement and the comfort they get from it. When Sebastian—the hot lawyer they picked up at the club the night before—stumbles over a dead body in their kitchen on his way out, calling Quinn is instinctive for them. Years of unacknowledged tension between Peyton and Quinn is a sore point, but Peyton trusts that Quinn will figure out the mess they’ve landed in.
While Quinn tries to find answers, Peyton and Will quickly find themselves tangled in the tension between Quinn and Sebastian. They’re hoping Quinn can move fast—before one of them becomes the next dead body—but the situation becomes even more complicated when another explosive night proves that Peyton and Will aren’t done with either Quinn or Sebastian, just as much as the two aren’t done with each other.
Between the mind-blowing night Sebastian spent with Peyton and Will, and the fact that every time he turns around it’s either Quinn or the barrel of a gun waiting for him, Sebastian has never had more regrets. If he can survive long enough to get some answers, maybe the four of them together are going to be the catalyst for a future that’s more wildly different than anything they’d ever imagined.
Catalyst is an 88,000-word MMMM romance that ends in a HFN. It is Book 1 in an ongoing series following the same four men and their relationship. It contains adult situations, gun use, references to murder and drug usage, suspense themes and a character with PTSD
REVIEW:
WOW! Just wow! I never saw this one coming and boy am I thankful I took a chance!
Where to start??? I suggest that you have a pen and paper handy to keep notes because this is one fast-paced and complicated book that has your fingers set to turn to the next page as quickly as possible because so much is going on!
Will and Peyton are roommates and best friends. The fact that they are besties with benefits makes most people believe that they are in a committed relationship. But Peyton longs for his brother’s friend Quinn and Quinn holds him an arm’s length away from him for some unknown reason. So when Will and Peyton meet the devastatingly handsome Sebastian at a bar they decide to add some spice to their hooking up. What they don’t expect is to find a dead body in their apartment the next morning when Seb heads out. Or to find out that Seb is the one that got away from Quinn years before. What happens next sets off a Chain Reaction none of the men saw coming and have no desire to stop!
This is one exciting mystery that’s web just keeps growing and twisting. Quinn and Seb misunderstanding lead to lack of trust that kept both men miserable and longing for what they let slip through their fingers for eight long years. Will and Peyton’s seemed relationship held Quinn back from Peyton’s continuous advances…he’s many things but not a home wrecker. Will just wants Peyton protected and happy, even if that means at his own expense. All these men are honorable and protective of what is theirs.
This is a great start to what promises to be an exciting series. This was a HFN and I can’t wait to get to know each man more and where this all leads. Can Quinn and Sebastian learn to trust and rely on each other. Can Peyton get past what he did in the Army that haunts him at night? Will Will trust that he is just as desirable and wanted as Peyton to all the men? Can these men work together in this unique relationship? I can’t wait to find out! This is a fantastic book that kept me on the edge of my seat and hoping all came out safe and relatively unharmed.
