Is there an easy way to tell your lifelong best friend that you secretly married his brother eight years ago? Asking for a friend….
When Gates shows up needing a place to crash , I offer him my spare room. Whatever happened between us nearly a decade ago is water under the bridge. I don’t lie awake at night wondering what could have been. Nope, definitely not.
But Gates seems determined to get a rise out of me. He’s tie-dyed all my clothes, removed my bedroom door, and replaced my hand soap with lube. I’m not sure if he’s hoping I’ll kick him out or kill him, but he won’t break me that easily.
When he tells me his Stroker Rod is broken…. What kind of mechanic am I if I don’t get hands-on with his problem?
We put our feelings behind us a long time ago, and there’s no way I’ll let Gates break my heart again. No amount of fiddling under the hood will fix everything broken between us. From here on out, it’s purely physical. Right?
Yup, just a couple of guys and their stroker rods.
Stroker is a best friend’s brother, secretly married, super steamy MM romance.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the second book in this series and this story has some overlap with that book. While it can be read as a standalone, I think it’s more fun if you’ve read Crankshaft first.
This story picks right where the previous book Crankshaft and Gates has been kicked back to Tallahassee’s place from mooching off his brother Steele’s place after his inguinal orchiectomy (removal of one of hit testicles and associated mass). He’s back to dong whatever he can to make Tallahassee pay attention to him – like tie-dying all his clothes and teaching his pet bird new swear words. Thing is, Gates and Tallahassee have been married for nearly 9 years and Gates ran after the wedding leaving his ring and a note while Tallahassee was asleep in their Vegas hotel room. why does Gates do this? Seems like he’s tired of running and he really wants to make things work with Tallee now.
There are quite a few obstacles in their way though. Tallahassee has built walls around his heart after Gates ran off. Steele, Gate’s brother has had one ask of him. Do not sleep with my friends. Oops. Gates has spent the last decade moving from thing to thing all over the country. He tends to run from thing to thing and Steele has always bailed him out if things go south. It’s clear that Steele still sees him as the screw up kid brother. If Gates and Tallahassee are going to try to make a go of it, they are going to have to confess the truth to Steele – and nobody is looking forward to that.
After the fireworks, things settle down a little bit. There are big changes ahead for more than just Gates and Tallahassee and that helps bring things together. All the guys are supportive and all’s well that ends well 😀
This series is so much fun! I loved Tallahassee and Gates. The pranks, the fights, the snark, the swearing pet bird – these two are PERFECT for each other – despite what Steele thinks. Steele does need to adjust the way he sees his brother and Gates struggles to keep his ADHD under control and convince Steele that he’s changes. Poor Tallahassee is always waiting for Gates to run off again. Gates has to work to convince Tallee that he’s not going to leave this time. That what they have is real and he’s trying to be the guy that Tallahassee deserves. They are adorable and hilarious and sexy and sweet as they figure out how to make this marriage work 😉
Tim Paige and Liam DiCosimo return to this fun KM Neuhold series. They are the perfect duo for this fun story set in the world that the author has created as the setting for both this series as well as the Four Bears Construction series. The performances are once again spot on! They are consistent with the characters and really imbue these character with so much heart and personality. I loved watching these guys get their happy endings. I really hope that they continue to work as a due in the MM genre because I’m not convinced there is anybody doing it better than they re right now. Highly recommended.
