Archie
We have an understanding. We have an end date, and that date has arrived. I finish travelling and walk away thinking I will never see him again, but fate has other ideas. When I knock on that door, I never expect to see him standing there. Suddenly, he’s thrust himself back into my world. Now we are trying to save the town Christmas tree, and I’m trying to find the strength to tell the world who I really am.
River
I have rules I live by. Rules that keep me safe. And they worked… Until I met him. I want to tell him to stay, but I don’t. I let him go. I never expect for him to turn up on my doorstep. Now we’re working to save something we both love — the town Christmas tree. But I’m trying to save something else. Something I never wanted before — a future with someone. A future with him.
REVIEW:
Archie and River meet while traveling. They agree to sort of a friends with benefits/holiday fling scenario. They have real chemistry, but this was meant to be a holiday only thing. Parting is such sweet sorrow, but that was the deal. They are both returning home for the holidays and that’s that.
Surprise! That isn’t really that 🙂 Turns out that both guys are in the same village. When they return home, it seems that the town will not be having a Christmas tree this year. When Archie knocks on River’s door as he is working to save this beloved town tradition, both men are shocked. But they work together in order to try to raise the funds to ensure that the town Christmas Tree will go forward this year. In the meantime, there is hope that maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t just a holiday fling after all and both men can get what they want 😉
Well this was a sweet story. Low angst and a good fit with the Home for the Holidays theme. These stories are connected by the theme, not a time, place or common setting so as such, it’s a lovely standalone story. I thoroughly enjoyed these two characters and their quest to save the Christmas Tree. I love a good holiday story and River’s coming out was I thought handled well. This is just a low angst feel good story and I loved the epilogue! If you looking for a quick, low angst holiday story with a happy ending for two deserving characters, I think you’ll like this one.
