REVIEW:
What an enjoyably sweet holiday story. Full disclosure, I don’t read a lot of the stories that come out around the Christmas holiday because they are usually not my thing. But I grabbed this one up, as it was a KC Wells story and I just love her writing. So let me tell you how much I loved this story. I LOVED IT!! It was so well done. I read it in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. This is a sweet low angst story, that is not an ode to the traditional holiday movies, you find this time of year. But a well planned and executed story of finding love – no matter who you are.
I loved the inspiration for this story. A beautiful holiday Norwegian commercial – you just never know where an author will find inspiration for a story.
Nicholas and Anthony meet one very fateful Christmas Eve. When Anthony is only 12 years old. But as the years pass, their friendship continues to grow for more than 40 years. I love the creative take on this story. KC excels at not only the world building, but character development also and this story is no exception.
“No. Rules, remember?”
“But you didn’t answer my question. Not being alone is not the same as having someone in your life.”
His Adam’s apple bobbed sharply. “I… I can’t talk about this, okay? Now, let’s change the subject. How are your parents? How’s Ben? Pete and Becca must be five by now. How are they finding life in Europe?”
I stared at him. “If you know about Ben’s job taking him to Europe, then you know exactly how old they are. And they’re all fine. Well…” My stomach clenched. What are you hiding from me? Is it so awful that you can’t share it? Not that he was the only one hiding things.
KC delivered a highly poignant and sexy story for Nicholas and Anthony. Will Nicholas ever tell Anthony his secrets? Will he reveal his secrets to Nicholas? What will the reindeer think? Is there a Santa’s sleigh ride? You need to go buy this book if you want to find out all the secrets these two have. If you are looking for a sweet holiday story, then this is the one for you. I highly recommend this one.
