Can my best friend get me to enjoy the holidays? Ho… Ho… Um…No?
Christmas just isn’t my jam. The crowds. The cold. That Mariah Carey song blasting everywhere I go. Thanks, but no thanks.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m no Grinch. The holidays are awesome if you have a great family and money to shower them with gifts. Unfortunately for me, I have neither of those things.
All I want for Christmas (great, now I’m quoting that damn Mariah song) is to focus on my internship at the Vet Shop Boys clinic and hanging out with my best friend and roommate.
Turns out Chester has got other ideas. Along with a crew of loved-up vets, he’s on a mission to get me to enjoy the holidays and fall in love with him.
Wait… What?!
There’s no way I’ll ever become one of those festive people who likes Christmas, but who knows? Maybe this will be the first holiday season that actually gets me merry?
Got Me Merry is book 6 in the Vet Shop Boys series and can be read as a stand-alone. Expect plenty of humor, found family, best-friends-to-lovers, a grumpy Christmas Grinch, a sunshiny Christmas lover, some very wacky Christmas traditions, a sizzling hot fun run on a freezing winter day, a two-legged dog with a heart of gold, meddling vets determined to add a sprinkling of love to the holidays, and a heartwarming happily ever after!
REVIEW:
Lawson and Chester are best friends since they started their studies to become veterinarians, they share a two-bedroom apartment, they run together every morning, they think the world of the other, and now… have an internship at the Vet Shop Boys clinic.
Lawson is sweet but can be a bit grumpy, is a half-full-glass guy, the opposite of Chess. Lawson hates Christmas time, all that fuss, ugh, he’s always on his own, just how he wants it.
This year Chess is on a mission, to let Lawson enjoy Christmas, yes, enjoy! All the Vet Shop Boys are in on this mission, that last part Lawson doesn’t know.
Chess is the only one Lawson feels safe with, he hasn’t been treated well in the past. The scars on his soul are still palpable. Chess is soothing.
Because of all their different work schedules at the Vet Shop Boys clinic, the whole of December is for holiday festivities, they open their houses on different days, so all colleagues will have a celebration.
What all the employees already saw from the first moment they laid eyes on Lawson and Chester, took them a bit longer, all the feelings they have for each other.
They are cuuuute together, so cute. Their friendship is holy, a kiss here and there won’t destroy it, it’s nothing permanent, right? So they keep it a bit loose, and see how it goes, there are other matters in life.
I wanted to yell “noooo just go for it”, as Tyler would say ‘one hun p’
Nope, when you got baggage like Lawson, of course, there are doubts and fears to overcome, and he’s doing already great, to be honest.
Another wonderful story from this series, fun, emotional, depth, this one is quite a slow slow-burn. The main characters are, in my experience, slightly developed, not that it matters.
There are some nice characteristics to enjoy because there are some super duper sweet things they do!
Besides Chester and Lawson their blooming relationship there’s the clinic, and of course, all the other guys from this series are here and have something to say ha! I love them so much, and hellooo Harmony, I love that woman!
Overall a consistently and wonderfully written story, when finished it makes you feel good and satisfied!
