BLURB:
When Prince Nemirac learns of his heritage, he vows to become the most powerful demon in history. But he can’t do it alone.
Feeling betrayed by his parents’ lies about his true lineage, Nemirac embarks on a quest to visit all five Gemstone Kingdoms and drain the stones of their power to ascend as a new being. But until he obtains that magic, he’s vulnerable.
Enter Janskoller the warrior bard.
Janskoller has just returned to the Gemstone Kingdoms, drawn by stories of broken curses and lands open for travel. He doesn’t expect a pretty young mage to hire him as a bodyguard, but it’s a good gig for a bard—lots of adventure to fuel his stories, and plenty of travel to spread his fame. Besides, Nemirac’s passion and obvious secrets intrigue him. But soon Janskoller realizes the peril of Nemirac’s goal—an end that puts the five kingdoms at risk and corrupts Nemirac into a darker, twisted version of the man Janskoller has come to care about. As the two grow closer, can Janskoller convince Nemirac to abandon his pursuit of power in favor of the deeper, more lasting magic of love?
REVIEW:
I love this series Tales of the Gemstone Kingdoms, it’s full of magic and magical creatures and the plot is original.
Janskoller is a mellow, big, muscled bard, he enjoys life and brings pleasure to people with his songs and lute. He meets Nemirac who offers him a job, as a sellsword, his bodyguard, travel with him on his journey to the different Gemstone Kingdoms.
Nemirac is the Diamond Prince, he got a sharp mouth and is quickly offended. He’s been lied to his whole life and wants to take the reins of his life. He’ll get the Gemstones and become the most powerful creature of the Kingdoms. Janskoller can help him to fulfill his ultimate dream.
He’ll never need anybody no more and can live by himself… maybe Janskoller may join him.
To get the first Gemstone was easy peasy. The hunt for the next was a bit more struggle, the next was shattering, and now… the Ruby of the mountains. Watch Nemirac!
While Janskoller was determined to help Nemirac, he gets more and more doubts, even regrets.
Power is the only thing Nemirac desires, what about him?
Janskoller is kindhearted, Nemirac the opposite, as it seems.
Most of the time Nemirac wasn’t a nice guy, I even wondered what Janskoller saw in him.
Janskoller’s plan is to stop Nemirac just in time, if not, something disastrous will happen!
A story full of amazing creatures and stunning magic, with lighting and smoke, whirlwinds, elements working their power, there are humans, elves, and half-elves, Kings, Demons, dwarves.
All excitingly written, it started with an easygoing pace but accelerated the further the journey came. What I missed were some more romantic moments. It was a hugely entertaining fantasy story, nearing the end it got quite epec.
