Aaron West is the Alpha of the West Mill Pack, whose health is slowly deteriorating. When the Pack doctor tells him he’s found a human with the same symptoms, and he’s bringing him home to run tests, Aaron tries not to get his hopes up a cure will finally be found.
When Marshall and Aaron meet, there is a connection like no other – a rare, once-in-a-generation soul bond that needs to be sealed for them to regain full health. Together they must navigate an uncharted path as Marshall’s human body struggles to accept the shifter bond and whether his growing feelings for Aaron are real or a result of the soul bond.
REVIEW:
This new series from Zoe Piper, has me super excited. I loved the premise behind this story. Zoe combines shifters and humans to create a low angst MM romance story.
World building is very good. You get a good sense of how she is going to expand this universe, in the future. I love that this pack is all inclusive, with multiple shifter types that find acceptance in the West Mill Pack. Main and side characters are well rounded and well fleshed out. I can see some future pairings with the wonderful side characters of Davy, Saint, and the Twins. Aaron and Marshall are such a great match. Aaron is the Alpha wolf shifter of the West Mill Pack, who crossed paths with Marshall; who is ex special forces; years earlier. Unbeknownst to both of them, their soul bond was triggered at that fateful meeting. We must not forget about the sexy times. They are numerous and very hot and steamy.
A little intrigue is a must. even in a low angst MM romance. Some of the pack members are not in favor of the human shifter mate bond. Which creates challenges for Aaron and Marshall, as they try to sort out the significance of the once in a generation fated mates situation.
Not too many books can hold my intention to the point of giving up sleep to see how the story comes together in the end. But this one hooked me in with the twist on shifters and mates and I didn’t want to put my kindle down and get some sleep. I just had to know how it all worked out.
Does Marshall really love Aaron or is it the bond? Will Marshall leave the big city for Aaron? Will they finally get a happily ever after? Will their mysterious illness be cured? This and many more questions will be answered, but you have to read the story. Because I’m not going to spoil it for you. I really recommend this book and I am looking forward to future books in this series.
