Can you be friends with benefits with a guy who hates you? What about enemies with benefits instead?
My plan to lick every cupcake Boston wants until he realizes I’m his only option might actually work out….
Was pretending to sleep with tons of men to keep my crush from hooking up with them a Dirty Trick? Sure. Do I regret it? Not one bit.
Telling Boston I have a thing for him would’ve been the logical thing to do. Unfortunately, logic hasn’t always been my strong suit. I decided to go the—“get under his skin until hostility turns into affection”—route instead, and I think it’s finally working.
But once he’s worked off all his annoyance with me, will there be real feelings underneath? I guess only time will tell….
Dirty Trick is an enemies with benefits story set on the gay resort of Palm Island and can be listened to as a stand alone, but you won’t want to miss all of these wild island shenanigans.
.REVIEW:
Trick has a secret. He’s the surf instructor at a resort on Palm Island – a gay resort island off the Carolinas. He had visited once before, had an amazing connection with a bar owner named Boston and came back several years later to take the job. In the meantime he had changed his appearance and Boston didn’t recognize him at all. He was both hurt and angry. He decided to go with the anger and decided if he couldn’t have him, nobody would. He was able to cock-block him for year. He had been Pat before, but now Trick suited him perfectly. He would manage to snag any guy who showed an interest in Boston and then find an excuse to ditch them. So while it looked like he was banging every guest on the island, he really didn’t want anyone but Boston.
Boston has spent years hating Trick. He’s manage to cock-block him forever and he’s tired of it. But when Trick buys the house next door and then bets him a kiss if he jumps off the roof at an offseason pool party, he begins to see things a bit differently.
Trick of course milks it for all it’s worth when he breaks his arm. He comes asking for help and Boston feels guilty so he does help him. And then there is that kiss. Like unbelievable. Off the charts. For both of them. While Boston tries to ignore it, it’s clear that they both would like more of that please 😉 Trick, however, has been hiding this huge secret of his true identity for year. How can finally be honest with Boston? Will Boston forgive him? Will he go back to hating him?
This is another good story in this gay resort off-season world. Trick is a fun guy who really just can’t stop his pranking of Boston. With the other guys sort of in on the joke, Boston is rightly ticked off. I really liked Boston a lot and honestly was little mad a Trick too for not being honest – mostly because it went on so long. Kind of a case of someone doing the wrong things for the right reasons 😉 I love the series regulars trying to help these two finally get it together. A visit from Ten was welcome too 🙂
Back on narrating duty, Iggy Toma does his usual stellar job on this book. Boston is a bit of a grumpy Gus. Trick is just that – a trickster. I really wanted them to get it together – they obviously wanted each other and I thought this narrator did a fantastic job of conveying the real pining going on with these two. There is plenty of humor along they way. The consistency of voices was spot on. I can’t wait for the rest of the stories in this series. Another great job from the team of Neuhold and Toma! Recommended.
