Fated mates find themselves drawn into a web of lies and deceit. Can they find the answers and protect those closest to them when danger lurks in the most unlikely of places?
Seeking answers to his sister’s disappearance two years before, FBI Special Agent Magnus Fallows will use all of the resources at his disposal. That includes Thalassa Security. Getting off on the wrong foot with the Thalassa family, Magnus struggles to figure out if there is anything the elusive Kelvin Thalassa is keeping from him.
For Kelvin Thalassa being in the field isn’t his area of expertise, yet he’ll do anything to find the answers and protect his growing family. Trust is becoming difficult, so Kelvin goes to a man who has had no issue pushing for answers─Agent Fallows. The last thing he expects is to find out that Magnus is his fated mate.
The search for Big Foot leads right back to an old nemesis: Andromeda. The battle is on to stop the heinous acts that have been happening right under the noses of the shifter council.
Kelvin #5 is a paranormal gay romance with a protective leopard who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth and a Kraken who learns strength comes in many forms. This is the fifth and final book in the Tangled Tentacles Series. HEA is guaranteed, and the Epilogue will hint at what is to come in the future for these two authors.
REVIEW:
Magnus Fallows is an FBI agent who investigates the unusual. His first meeting with the Thalassa Corporation wasn’t his finest moment, but, in his defense, he had a personal connection to the case he was investigating, and emotions were running on overdrive. Magnus hadn’t met all the brothers, but they had conversed. Meanwhile, at Thalassa, there’s a rift in the family. Needing to escape the toxic environment, Kelvin decides to see Magnus in person with the information the man had requested. The minute Kelvin stepped out of the car, the men realized they were fated mates. Their meeting, and subsequent search for bigfoot, also starts a chain of events that concludes the case that began in book one.
This story is the fifth and final book in the Tangled Tentacles series, though I hope this band of stunning Thalassa brothers and their mates pop up in future ventures (hint, hint, to the authors – on knees, pleeeeeeease). I am really going to miss these boys, and consider the series one of the best I’ve ever read.
The story is told in the third person from the viewpoint of Kelvin and Magnus. Worldbuilding began in book one and continues here. So, I have a hell-of-a picture in my head, which the scene-setting enhanced. Family ups, downs, births, etc., also have further developments. While I am generally not one for stories containing many babies/children, these little ones are cute. They’re different. We’re not talking little redheads with lollipops – we’re talking baby sharks, bears, and other animals. I couldn’t help smiling when they took up page space, especially how their doting parents talked macho strategies while patiently dealing with a little one. It’s the ultimate in family dynamics – and the whole family and their mates are needed to thwart the evil lurking.
Kelvin is the accountant. He likes everything to add up; if they don’t, he digs deep. He’s a Kraken, and like his brothers, has a strong protective streak. Not that Magnus needs protecting. Between them, they make the best of what they have and use a language the Thalassa brothers understand to encourage them to remove the sticks up their asses.
I can’t give enough praise for how this story comes together—shout-out here for Marvin (love, love, loved him). There isn’t a link missed, or opportunity ignored to stick it to the right people. Everything is cleverly tied up with a bow, yet the epilogue held the promise of a new spin-off series dealing with an area that could be equally as exciting. I’ll admit when I read it – I did a little happy jig.
This novel contains everything – melt-the-heart moments, hot and steamy, intelligent investigations, Sherlock-style revelations, macho action, and some erroneous planning that caused some fabulous reading. And the cherry on the top is that – we may see some cameos by the Thalassa corporation in the future. I’m a very happy bunny.
