Maximillian Arthur Felstead is up to no good.
Having taken it upon himself to plan an anniversary surprise for his brother and his fiancé during their annual December ski trip, Max realises nothing happens quickly this close to Christmas. Deciding chocolate is the answer, Max accidentally incurs the wrath of chocolatier, Luca, who’s having a pre-Christmas nightmare of his own.
Luca is short staffed and short on patience, and he isn’t enamoured with Max’s clueless demands, even if he is utterly gorgeous. So when Max reaches out to apologise, Luca can’t help but be drawn in by his charm and Max’s offer of help, especially when their chemistry is hot enough to melt the ice on Mont Blanc.
With their time together running out, can a little Christmas magic help Max and Luca find what they’ve been searching for?
REVIEW:
This was a lovely sweet holiday read. The descriptions of the snow covered mountains and all things skiing were simply gorgeous, I really felt like I had stepped into an alpine landscape. It was a joy to have a holiday read that was set in Max’s holiday.
Max was that quintessentially English guy, who loves to do things for people but hasn’t got anyone special in his life. His heart is huge and whilst he is sometimes clueless in his interaction with people, he isn’t mean or hurtful and wholly owns up to his sheltered upbringing which makes him unable to see when he is being a privileged dick. Luckily for him his brother’s fiancé is happy to put him straight and Max is more than ready to apologise for any misunderstanding he may have caused.
Cue Luca who is running a very successful chocolate shop in the ski resort, he has been working every hour to get his business up and running and currently he is short staffed so is working insane hours to cope with demand during the run up to the holidays.
Their first meeting goes badly wrong but there is chemistry between them, Luca writes Max off as a rich guy, wanting his own way despite being told No. When they bump into each other again, he is unprepared for Max’s apology. Max then decides to help Luca out in his shop and they begin to get to know each other, its that funny mix of being on a countdown to Max going back home and them feeling they want more than a holiday fling.
The trouble Max went to, to ensure his brother and fiancé had a special anniversary was very touching and the descriptions of all the delectable chocolates had me salivating and wanting to taste them as well.
This is a joyful holiday romance set in the run up to Christmas, with no angst or heartache, even the shall I stay, shall I go, scenario was handled so well with both characters deciding to talk to each other, despite their nervousness about what they other might say.
I was transported to the Alps, with gorgeous food, amazing chocolates and a sweet romance, total heaven.
