As a Kiwi writer living in Wellington, it’s always weird thinking about winter at this time of year, especially as we’re coming into summer.
Unlike other parts of the country, we don’t generally get snow where I live during winter either, as we’re too close to sea level. Our winters are wet and windy, with a lot of the cold coming from wind chill or off the snow on the surrounding hills.
The last time we got snow, which was about 10 years ago, everything ground to a halt as we don’t have the infrastructure to deal with it. That was the first decent fall of it since the 1920s!
When I signed up for the Winter Love Promotion, it made sense to put Winter Duet, book 2 of my WWII Echoes Rising series on sale. As the title suggests, it takes place in winter, and the duet part of the title is two-fold. Kit and Michel are both musicians, who have promised each other a duet if they survive the war, and also the ensemble of characters split into two groups.
