Josh stepped into the main room and froze. Bran stood beside the TV, his gaze on his phone. He glanced up, his lips slowly curving into a smile as their gazes met. Was Bran happy to see him? Heat washed over Josh. He hadn’t put his device on, and his gaze hadn’t been on Bran’s lips when he’d begun talking.
“Sorry, I don’t have my device on. I wasn’t paying attention. Give me a moment.” He moved to his sleeping area, his dick harder than ever, and wondered how the hell he could be around this guy without embarrassing himself. Was it even two? He glanced at his phone and saw it was one forty-five. Bran had arrived early.
After putting the device in place, he moved back to the main area of the bus, trying to think of anything other than Bran’s sexy lips, his hands, his shoulders, or the way his blue eyes lit up when he smiled. Josh bet Bran’s hands would feel good on him.
Stop it! He couldn’t think that way. Bran was here to do a job. That was it.
“Sorry about that.” He needed to calm the heck down and stop obsessing over this man.
“Hey, no need to apologize. I’m early. The security guard let me in.”
Josh flicked his gaze to the door and then wondered where the rest of the band members were. “Have you seen Casey, Margot, or Ish?”
“No. The guard said you were all inside.”
Josh nodded and stepped past Bran, making the mistake of taking a deep whiff of the guy. Bran smelled so good, and Josh just wanted to lean in and keep breathing his scent. Stopping to sniff Bran would be wrong. He stepped over to the refrigerator and grabbed a water bottle, taking a long drink before he capped the bottle and met Bran’s gaze. A shiver rippled through him, and he had to look away.
Bran cleared his throat and moved to the bench seat that wrapped around three-quarters of the table and sat facing Josh. “We don’t have long to get to know each other before we take the stage.”
Josh shook his head, trying like heck to calm down. He didn’t like being so nervous. He would make a mistake if he didn’t get over his infatuation fast.
“I stayed up last night reading about the band,” Bran said.
Casey stepped into the room. “I bet that was boring reading.”
“Not really,” Bran said as he stood.
“We’re really dorks,” Casey added as he moved to Bran and gave him a handshake that ended with the two of them briefly touching shoulders in a quick hug as they slapped each other’s back.
Meeting new people was so easy for Casey. Josh wished he had the confidence to move close to Bran and pull him into a hug. Of course, he would probably stop and sniff Bran and piss him off. It was best he didn’t try one of those hugs with Bran, or he’d make a fool of himself.
“Aren’t we all?” Bran chuckled. “I geek out over music all the time. I’ll find myself staring at the sky as I listen to music while I work.”
Bran turned, and his gaze landed on Josh. His lungs seemed to freeze as their gazes held. Josh had to fight to suppress the shiver threatening to erupt as thoughts of Bran touching him raced through his mind.
“We are all dorks,” Margot said as she entered the room and moved to Bran to hug him before plopping down at the table across from where Bran had been seated. “So the way I see it, we need to get to know each other real fast.”
“I agree,” Bran said.
“We should play a game of truth or dare with no dares,” Margot said.
Bran chuckled but seemed nervous. Josh wondered what he had to be anxious about. The guy was hot, talented, and knew how to handle himself. Josh felt like a total loser compared to him.
“Or we could just talk.” Casey stood and waved for them to follow.
They passed the curtained-off bunks and stepped into a lounge at the back of the bus. It was nice, like the perfect jam room. Casey grabbed a guitar from a stand and handed it to Josh.
“Play something for us.”
Josh’s stomach clenched as anxiety wound through him. Normally, he didn’t have any issue playing in front of the band members. If he messed up, they wouldn’t hold it against him. But Bran was an unknown, and Josh didn’t want to disappoint him.
He cleared his throat as he took the guitar and settled in the bucket seat beside the couch, which was as far away from Bran as he could get and still be in the same room.
“Tell me if it isn’t tuned.”
Ish moved quickly to their sleeping quarters and brought back Josh’s tuner. He smiled and mouthed thank you. He warmed up his fingers and the guitar by playing a few chords. His attention turned to the guitar as he got ready to play. When he glanced up, he was shocked to see Bran staring so intently at him.
