REVIEW:
I am so thankful that I took a chance on this author when his Rocktoberfest book became available. I thought that book was good, but if that was good then this book was exceptional! This book will definitively be on my Best of 2022 books of the year! It was that warm and touching 💕
Jonas Ludwig is at the bottom of his life. His despicable ex played him like a fool and has completely destroyed his life. Now is he not only going to lose his career he and his dear father worked so hard for, but is losing his home and most probably his father’s greatest possession, his Steinway D-274 grand concert piano. In a final attempt to regain some control on his life he agrees to be part of a competition to award one student the chance to learn with him for one year and compete in the famous Salzburg competition. But when he arrives in Monongahela, West Virginia everything starts to crumble and it looks like fate has thrown her final knife at him. The little girl doesn’t want to do this so he chooses the next best thing…her teacher. But can a grease monkey with oil-stained hands be the one to take to the competition?
I absolutely loved these men. Both Jonas and Orli had not only the two worse ex-boyfriends but now we’re thrown together by this whole completion thing and swirling with the chemistry that drew them together. But trust was a huge thing to achieve when your ex shatters it. You couldn’t help but not only want things to work out between them but also for them to triumph over the evilness that Rodrigo spewed at every turn. I wanted him to get what he deserved and even more. I can’t believe, in today’s age, that he would have been able to continue to use men and then throw them away, ruining not only their careers but their lives, and get to continue on in his place of power with the symphony!
I have always envied those that could play the piano so seemingly effortlessly. I knew that it took tons of dedication and practice to be good and both these men proved, without a doubt, that they excelled in their talent. I found myself constantly clicking on YouTube to hear the pieces that were being described and worked on. But what I loved most was that Orli got Jonas to loosen up a bit and learn to enjoy his form of music too. And I especially loved when he turned that knowledge and ability on his stuck up competitors. He had the talent and he proved it. But that wasn’t what was important to Orli…that was Jonas who was important to him.
I can’t recommend this amazing book enough. It resonated with me and warmed my heat just like the music was the Melody of the Heart that Jonas’s father instilled in him and Orli had made sure Jonas knew he was his heart. I can’t wait for the next in this series by this amazing and gifted storyteller. He has quickly become a must-have for me.
