Mateo Alvarez is finally starting to get his life back in order after escaping an unhealthy relationship. As much as he wants a Daddy, he is starting to think it isn’t meant to be. That changes when he’s enjoying a night out at a club and is caught off guard by a serendipitous meeting with a Daddy he’s instantly drawn to.
Assured by a best friend that Jake is a good man and a good Daddy, Mateo allows himself to sink into his submissive headspace. Jake wants to take care of Mattie in ways Mattie has never experienced, but will he allow himself to trust Jake enough to share all his secrets?
Matteo sparks something in Jake Cosgrove he’s long since thought dormant; a need to protect and nurture. Mattie might be small in stature, but his personality fills all the hollow places inside Jake he didn’t even know were empty.
Determined to make Mattie his, Jake knows he needs to build a foundation of trust to show him what a real Daddy/boy relationship should be. But is that enough to make Mattie confident in what they could be to each other, or will his boy’s past relationship ruin what they have before it even begins?
WARNINGS: Daddy Kink, BDSM elements, violence against a MC but NOT caused by the other MC.
REVIEW:
This book has been a long time coming but so worth the wait!
Mattie is best friends with his two roommates Liam and Carter. Even though he knows none of them are ready, what with Liam still not over what went down with his daddy Cash and sweet, shy Carter not ready to divulge anything. But Mattie, above all people, knows what it’s like to hold hurt and devastating secrets in. But Mickie’s Leather Bar was holding a Daddy’s Boys Night and they just had to get out and check it out. What Mattie never expected was that going to the club that night was about to flip his and his besties world upside down and inside out…but in a very good way! We first saw this scene play out in Liam and Cash’s book and I really, really wanted to know more about Mattie and Jake. I never expected to hear why Mattie was the way he was. His ex, Franklin, was such a nasty piece of garbage and, in my opinion, lucky to be alive. I didn’t think Jake would be able to have that much restraint but his love for Mattie and making sure he was okay was all that mattered.
It was so sweet seeing Mattie and Jake’s brother Josh connect and become good friends. And Jake’s Nonna opening her arms and heart to Mattie. She really is the glue to that family. And Mattie really did need the love and nurturing of their warm Italian family where love is everything since he had never had that growing up.
I loved seeing the boys together. They really were the perfect support group that became besties. Watching them embrace Sammie was special. I really hope that we get his book for his very own special nurturing daddy. But first I need Carter’s story with the huge Hawaiian Doctor daddy Kanai Akiona. And I want to know why Kanai saw him wandering the streets near the townhome late at night.
This book was four and a half years on the making and I wasn’t sure when we were ever going to get it. The first book was my introduction to Daddies and boys. I was kinda confused back then but it lead to an opening the flaps of my “box” and letting a whole new genre embrace me. I will be forever grateful author Luna David lead me on that journey. I loved this book and really hope we don’t have to wait another 4+ years for the rest of these wonderful boys and their protective and loving Daddies stories.
