Monthly Guest Post—Andy Gallo—Changes in the Air

Lots of Changes in the air!

A few weeks ago I went to my fortieth High School reunion (lordy that makes me so old.) We all changed – some more than others.  Some were easily recognizable. Others? Maybe I have a faulty memory and don’t recall what they looked like in HS.  The point was, we all changed in many ways. Marriages, (some people are divorced 3 times) kids, most are working, some are retired, one is worth 600 million dollars. (He’s still working.)

One thing that played out over and over is most of us spread our wings and tried new things and went new places. Almost no one is still living near the school.  It’s not surprising. Most of us like to experience new things, see new places and the like.

So what does this have to do with me and writing?  Glad you asked. Next month I’m making changes.  On November 1, all the Harrison Campus Books will get new covers. Cate Ashwood did them, and I’m anxious to show them off. BUT since they aren’t out yet, I’ll just share the new cover for Better For You, the Holiday Novella.

A lonely bookworm. A struggling jock. A snowstorm that steers them together.

Charlie: Charlie’s got five days working in the library to earn enough for Christmas. Being stuck in the frat house with his secret crush? Torture.

Rich, hot jocks don’t look twice at nerds like him . . .

Evan: Evan’s got five days to finish this stupid paper he can’t wrap his head around. Should he let the cute straight-A Charlie help him? Shit.

He’s gonna see how stupid he is . . .

Better for You:

Then on November 22, 2022, I’ll pivot a bit and release Break the Spell, my first Paranormal Romance novel.  This is going to be a five book series (plus a prequel novella).  This is available for pre-order now.

Break the Spell:

Bartholomew Hollen, professor of defensive magic at Utrecht University, just wanted a no strings, no feelings, no attachment hook up. Nothing messy like when his ex-boyfriend tried to feed him to a demon. Bart’s heart, however, has other ideas.  But when he has a vision of the future and sees his hookup dying at his feet from yet another demon, Bart does the only sensible thing – he sneaks out like a thief in the night.

Not like he’ll see the guy again.

Caelinus Reinhold has done something no elf has done before – become the professor of creative magic at Utrecht University. His first day should be magical, except Cael can’t stop thinking about the hot mage he hooked up with the night before who then snuck out while he slept. Whatever. His loss.

He’ll never see the jerk again, anyway.

Things get awkward fast when the department assigns Bart to be Cael’s mentor. Despite their rocky start, neither can deny that Fate wants them together. But Bart’s premonitions all end in tragedy for the pair. No matter how he tries to change the future, Cael is always a casualty. How can Bart follow his heart when Cael’s death is sure to break it?

And because more change might be good – I’m working on retiring from my day job next summer. That’s not finalized, so it’s not an official change, but once it is, well that would/will be the biggest one of all.

Stay tuned for more.

Until next month, have a wonderful last few weeks of winter/summer.

~Andy

Andy Gallo:

Andy prefers mountains over the beach, coffee over tea, and regardless if you shake it or stir it, he isn’t drinking a martini. He remembers his “good old days” as filled with mullets, disco music, too-short shorts, and too-high socks. Thanks to good shredders and a lack of social media, there is no proof he ever descended into any of those evils.

Andy does not write about personal experiences and no living or deceased ex-boyfriends appear on the pages of his stories. He might subconsciously infuse his characters with some of their less noble qualities, but that is entirely coincidental even if their names are the same.

Married and living his own happy every after, Andy helps others find their happy endings in the pages of his stories. He and his husband of more than twenty years spend their days raising their daughter and rubbing elbows with other parents. Embracing his status as the gay dad, Andy sometimes has to remind others that one does want a hint of color even when chasing after their child.
