Pack Alpha, Olowin, welcomes all shifters to his pack, but it seems his fated mate isn’t quite so understanding. Can pride be overcome to allow the Fates to show what weirdness they can conjure next?
For Olowin, rejection is only the beginning of his problems. Mouthy betas and the shifter council nosing around after the discovery of Fingerlings leave him little to no time to worry about Russ. After months of avoidance and some interference from his brother, Olowin gets the apology he’s been waiting for. Everything should now be smooth digging with his little Fingerling.
Wrong.
Claiming Russ is the easy part. The mating ritual is when Olowin’s problems really begin. There is a wayward sprouting potato, a very unexpected pregnancy, and three challenges. Can Olowin keep his balance while he figures it all out?
Alpha Fingerling Surprize is the second book in the Weird and Wacky Shifters world and can be read as a stand-alone, but what would be the fun in that?
REVIEW:
I know people say lol all the time but I was literally laughing out loud and then immediately re-reading to make sure I read it right then burst back out laughing again!
Olowin is the Pack Alpha that is brothers with Tala, who is mated to fingerling potato shifter (yes you read that right) Frenchie. Frenchie’s brother Russ, it turns out, is Olowin’s fated mate but their initial meeting didn’t go real great. When Russ and Olowin are left in charge of Tala and Frenchie’s infant twins they finally get the chance to talk and work things out. Very quickly too! But the pack wasn’t thrilled with Tala and Frenchie mating and aren’t real receptive to their Pack Alpha Leader being a fated mate with a potato shifter either. But nature has a way of protecting her own and these two are perfect for each other. The big bad wolf and his “Sprout” are definitely surprized when their mating results in some weird & wacky news!
When I read the first book in the series I had to say that I never expected to read a book about potato shifters being true mates with wolf shifters. Interspecies didn’t even cover this wackiness. Then I discovered that this all came about when some fans threw some very unique ideas at Jayne and she ran with them and I’m so thankful she did. Once I got over the initial shock I was entranced by these tough and strong alpha wolves and their little potatoes that love to roll around in the dirt and then make their alphas all dirty.
I have to say, the claiming practices of the two species were weird, wacky, entertaining and somewhat horrifying at times. I’m accustom to the mating bite with fated mates but not literally eating a piece of their potato mate and then burying them in the special dirt to regenerate. I love that that little practice that Olowin seemed to truly enjoy was apropos in its ramifications! Lol
I have been converted and now am a huge fan of these potato shifters and their big grumpy alphas and can’t wait for more. Only JP could create something so out there and suck you in and make you demand more! And more I need ASAP.
I highly recommend this delightful and entertaining series and can’t wait to see what these potatoes and their alphas get up to next! A huge thumbs up for me!!!
