REVIEW:
This is a great start to a new series by the always reliably fantastic Morgan Brice.
Betrayed by someone he trusted; Liam is running for his life when he get’s a phone call that offers him a lifeline. On the way to his new life, his car breaks down and a gorgeous breakdown truck driver comes to his rescue. The only problem is that Russ is Liam’s fated mate and now really isn’t the right time for either of them to jump into anything new.
What I really liked about this book is that although Liam and Russ know immediately that they are mates, neither jumps straight into insta-love. The have their own issues to deal with, and on top of that, someone’s starting fires and shifters are going missing.
The relationship that develops is well constructed and sweet, and the community of outcast shifters and paranormal practitioners that have come together as a found family has lots of opportunities for great plots for the rest of the series.
John Solo does a fantastic job; his growly Russ is everything.
I felt that John Solo added a new dimension to the book with his characterization. Solo managers to differentiate between the MC’s and their shifter sides really well. Russ is growly and sexy and his wolf sounds so irritated compared to Liam’s lighter snark and absolute twink of a fox.
Needless to say, there is an HEA, and the epilogue is adorable. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
