Ask fans on social media what they look for in a book. Take those answers and write a post about how your new book fits into what they are looking for.
A happy ending. – Readers of romance expect a happy ending and I don’t blame them. When I read romance, I expect one too. The world is hard enough and I want the stories I read to transport me, to take me away if only for a little while. Color Blind is no exception. It has an ending that is happy and will leave the reader with a smile.
There have been books over the years where I have had to thread the needle so to speak in order to provide a happy ending. Sometimes it takes characters working together or even the support of parents and siblings in order for my characters to find their happy place. But then we often need the support of others in order to be happy so it felt right to me. In the end, the story not only worked, but I think it was stronger for the work I had to put into it. All that said, I will work on a story and rework it in order to ensure that magical, heart warming, happy ending.
Interesting characters – Readers want and expect, rightfully so, characters that engage their interest. I think that leans that they want to read about people different from themselves, and yet connected to them in some way so they are relatable.
I like to think that Color Blind has characters that are out of the ordinary and yet relatable. Both Mase and Ty are young people trying to find their way in the world. And we’ve all bene there. Both young men face challenges. Mase is blind, while Ty’s challenges relate to his family and their expectations. Challenges are part of life for everyone, and it’s the way we handle them and the decisions we make when faced with them, that determine the outcome for us… and for Mase and Ty.
I hope you enjoy Mase and Ty’s story.
