What happens overseas, stays overseas… until it doesn’t.
When Tom Miller’s ex-Army buddies crash into town for the night, he knows he’s in trouble before the invite even arrives. While he was deployed, he had a habit of getting on his knees for his fellow soldiers. For the year since he’s been back in the States, he’s dated exclusively women, leaving that part of him shut away.
Tom knows if he shows up to the reunion without a date, he’ll be lovingly but intensely ridiculed by his buddies all night. More than that, though, he knows he’ll probably end up in bed with some (or all) of them once tabs are paid and rides are called. That would be fine—great, even—if it weren’t for Ethan.
Ethan, a charmingly nerdy intelligence analyst, swept Tom up into his life weeks after he was discharged from the Army, struggling and alone. They’ve been best friends and roommates ever since, and Tom has worked hard to keep his feelings in check to preserve the status quo. But when Ethan agrees to accompany Tom to the bar as his fake boyfriend to keep the guys off his case, it seems like the perfect opportunity to test the waters. Is Ethan even into men? Is he into him?
If the answer is no, well… it was all just pretend anyway, right?
Full Disclosure is an 11,000-word M/M romantic novella featuring roommates-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, ex-soldiers, a nerdy love interest, fake dating, secret bisexual history, and a super steamy first time when it all finally boils over. All books in the Army Awakenings series can be read as standalones and in any order.
REVIEW:
Surprisingly good amount of story and plot in a super fast 30-minute read.
Tom is honorably discharged from the Army after being injured while on tour with his battalion. Safely and comfortably settled in Raleigh, he lives and works with his roommate Ethan. Tom hasn’t shared what went on behind closed doors while serving with his buddies deployed and has buried that awakening since returning to civilian life in the states. That carefully built shelter constructed to house his past activities is all about to come crashing down when his friends return stateside and come to visit. Now he has to come clean with full disclosure of his true sexual activities and desires he repressed. But will this revelation result in him suddenly needing a new place to live or will Tom’s eyes be opened too?
This short novella takes place in less than 24 hours. Tom is worried about Ethan’s reaction to his confession but it appears both Tom and Ethan have had blinders on concerning how their respective roommate took notice of them when they weren’t looking.
If you are looking for a short, spicy read to fill in time while waiting for an appointment or to pass a few moments this may just be the ticket. I was pleasantly surprised how much I learned about both men, especially Tom, in such a short novella and was drawn in and invested in their reaching their quick HEA. I look forward to Tom’s Army buddies Julian, Adam and Chase’s stories too.
