RIVER SULLIVAN
As a bona fide sci-fi nerd and total X-phile—the truth is out there—I’ve always believed in aliens. Duh. But I never thought I’d actually find them on Earth–let alone right here in Las Vegas! Now I’ve stumbled onto a big freakin’ secret and found my very own hot AF alien. I’m head over heels, but he’s being a total grump and holding back. How do I make him realize a geeky sunshine guy like me is just what he needs in his life? Did I mention he also has tentacles?!?! #HolyHentaiFantasyBatman #SwoonworthyAlien #SignMeUpSugar #MakeItSo #VivaLasVegas
KAI GENARO
The last thing I need in my life is a chatterbox twink who’s determined to woo me and could expose the secret existence of aliens on Earth to all humankind. Everything about him annoys me, including his stupidly attractive halo of golden curls and his bright green ‘come hither’ eyes. To make matters worse, he’s been recruited to work for the alien Alliance on Earth, and I’m assigned to keep him out of trouble. I don’t care how attractive he is. I don’t date humans! Except, my tentacles may have accidentally started the Mating Courtship
Ritual with him…
REVIEW:
I loved this book, its everything a sci-fi geek wants. It has a sci-fi geek who is obsessed with aliens and believes the ‘Truth is Out There’ and a sexy alien with tentacles.
River was a total joy and brought my geek side roaring out, he was exuberant and aware he was, in his words “extra”. He lives with his stoner Uncle who has looked after him since his parents died, and now he looks after his Uncle who gets absorbed and forgets to eat and sleep. Their interactions were funny and poignant, and you could see their close bond.
What do you do, when your neighbour goes driving in the middle of the night, follow them of course. It was so ridiculous and so very River, it was amusing and cliched, but it worked so well. Finding the super-secret alien base, finding out aliens live on earth, his utter joy and acceptance of the weird twist his life has taken. It was very clever that the aliens can wipe someone’s memories, which helps to keep them under the radar except when it doesn’t work. Thankfully they offer River a job rather than using more permanent means of keeping him quiet.
Kai is an uber hot alien with tentacles, a bit like a shifter, his tentacles seem to be much more aware, and do things outside his conscious control. It was hilarious, how much he tried to dislike River, how adorable River was in his utter ruthless determination to make Kai his. A previous bad experience had soured Kai on human relationships, but River is a force of nature, and he stood no chance. The more Kai resisted the more River pursued him.
It’s a lovely romance and the excerpts from the Courtship Ritual were so funny, and when they finally get together it was everything you’d want.
Kai’s family were brilliant and actively helped River to break down Kai’s barriers, his brother volunteered to help make Kai jealous, and you could see how much the brothers mean to each other.
River grappling about what, how much to tell his friend and how it all goes wrong when it’s discovered his friend is in the know. All of River’s interactions with the aliens were so funny and showed his character so much. The aliens have never met anyone like River and it was a joy to read.
I loved the premis of aliens living on earth and that they work to keep under the human radar, of course there is always someone who thinks exposure is a good idea. There was plenty of action and unexpected twists to keep the book moving along at a fast pace.
