BLURB:
Superstar Lev Kagan is now my co-writer on a mini-series, and I should be thrilled. Except he also wrote and played my ideal man in one of his movies, a character that inspired the tons of popular fanfiction I’ve written.
I need to keep him at arm’s length so my heart doesn’t mistake Lev for his character, even though he really wants to be my friend. It’s a good thing I just started an online relationship with a sweetheart who says my fanfiction is giving him an awakening. I just need to keep all my wires uncrossed.
Fabricated features two cinnamon rolls, secret online identities, coworkers to lovers, and a giant love of fanfic! There is absolutely no cheating and a guaranteed HEA. It is a standalone, but is much more fun if read in series order.
REVIEW:
Niko is a screenwriter who has worked his way up. He’s got a big opportunity to write a limited series for a studio that focuses on LGTBQ+ content. But the trouble is that the studio informs him that he will have a co-writer. And that co-writer is none other than Lev Kagan – who also as his character Dov from another series is Niko’s secret crush. And the fandom that Niko writes very very popular FanFic about.
When Niko meets Lev, he’s gobsmacked and has no idea how to respond. He’s normally not star-struck but he has no idea who the guy that he’s secretly getting off to on the regular (well at least his character) is really throwing him off his game. This is potentially his big break, so he can’t screw it up. But he has trouble getting comfortable with Lev.
Lev is used to everyone liking him and he’s struggling with Niko keeping things strictly business. However, they do make progress with their writing despite their rather stilted relationship. When Lev discovers AnDov fan fic thanks to a good friend of his, well his world is rocked! All of the sudden he’s not so sure that he’s as straight as he though as he was because, man this stuff is HOT!
When Lev reached out to the writer, BearsHeart and they start DMing, well thing get every stranger. He stuggles with his feelings now about the stuff these guys get up to. He has NO idea that BearsHeart is Niko and Niko doesn’t realize that DovRightIn is actually Lev 🙂 They keep dancing around each other but they need to get this work done. Then Niko “demo” kisses Lev and that’s it.
After the work is done, they celebrate – Lev’s way. He really wants to make Niko happy though and things go Ok. But there are potential business issues and the studio has to take the lead. And when Lev and Niko finally meet and realize they’ve been talking to each other all along? Perfect!
I adored these two! The banter and the mixed signals. The DM conversations with the person they were working with and had no idea (yes, this is a trope, but I love it). Niko is so sweet and thinks he’s too much for any one person to handle. Lev pulls him out of his comfort zone. They are definitely opposites with Lev never knowing a stranger – only friends he hasn’t met yet. While they come at their lives from completely different angles, it’s clear that they have a spark 😉 And that they are more than compatible despite Lev’s previous assessment of himself. This was a super sweet and sexy story and even though I’m not a fanfic person (not sure I’ve ever read any) I really loved how these two played off each other and how they found their way to their HEA. Highly recommended!
