BLURB:

Detective Elliot Trainor joined the Bearer task force for a simple, if  slightly vague reason—to help people. At the time, he wasn’t counting on
meeting Dimitri Orlov.

Dimitri is beautiful, intelligent and fiercely decisive. He’s everything  Elliot could ever want in a partner. He also can’t stand Elliot, even if  he is apparently attracted to him. Half the time, they’re at each  other’s throats, and the other half they want to tear each other’s  clothes off. No, that’s inaccurate. Sexual chemistry and extreme  annoyance tend not to be mutually exclusive when it comes to Elliot and  Dimitri.

And Elliot would try to pursue Dimitri, to at least exorcise the tension  with some no-strings sex, but Dimitri deserves better. Besides, it’s  never a good idea to enter a relationship with someone who isn’t his  mate.

The tension between them explodes when they get snowed in, and the heat  sparking between them is strong enough to melt away any kind of ice. But  things are never that simple for Elliot and Dimitri. A threat is  stirring in the shadows, and a distant power awakens in Dimitri’s heart.  What will these new tidings bring for the unlikely couple?

Warning: Gay erotic romance. The material in this document contains  explicit sexual content that is intended for mature audiences only. All  characters involved are adults capable of consent, are over the age of  twenty-one, and are willing participants.

This is the second edition of Chase The Cold Away, and has been revised and reedited. The Bearers series continues with a m/m romance that’s fierier than ever, the return of past couples, and much more! Be prepared for steamy scenes and plenty of twists and turns.

Notes:
The reader does not need to have read what’s come before

REVIEW:

When I took this book it was written that the reader does not need to have read what’s come before. I wholehearted disagree with this statement. Although I realize that Elliot and Demitri are fated mates I don’t understand why they didn’t realize it before because it seems they have been attracted to each other and been around each other for some time. And then BAM! They are mates. And it turns out that Demitri is a scientist working on research on something called Bearers. I don’t know if all bearers are humans or that they have to mate with wolf shifters.

I fill like I came into an ongoing story and then it ended without knowing what is really going on, who all the characters are and what the purpose of the book was. It was like I was reading an excerpt from the middle of a book without any knowledge of the ongoing story.

There is also signs that supernatural forces are going on within the bearers. I have no clue what those are about and each bearer seems to have different gifts.

I can not in good conscience recommend this book as it stands. It is the fourth book in a series that I have no clue is how long but it is blatantly obvious that the whole series must have to be read in order to have any clue what is going on.

To end on a positive note, I think, that if I started at the beginning of the series and had met all the characters when their stories were introduced and were quickly reintroduced in this book I think I would have had a much more positive and engaging experience. Even though I was lost and confused for most of the book I felt like the characters connected and I could almost feel their mating bond.
