Ryder Vittor has almost everything he could ever want. He was a successful bull rider, he runs a rodeo company and a ranch for his family, and he’s right where he wants to be. Until his grandmother issues him an ultimatum. Now he has to get married and have kids if he wants to keep the life he loves, but he can’t exactly produce a man and a baby out of thin air, can he? So he sets out to hire a husband in order to get what he needs.
Kase McDaniel is at the end of his rope. His bull riding career has ended in a bad crash, his family doesn’t want him back, and he has nowhere to go. When Ryder offers to let him come stay at Ryder’s New Mexico ranch, he’s grateful, but he’s stunned when he finds out Ryder intends to make a contract with a stranger to marry him and raise kids with him. Kase has been in love with Ryder for years, so why shouldn’t he put in for the job?
Neither one of them has any idea what they’re setting in motion when they tie the knot, and soon they’re overrun with foster kids, rodeo family, and more. Can Kase and Ryder find something real in all the chaos, or will they be parting ways when the contract ends?
REVIEW:
I love a good BA Tortuga cowboy with children story and this one was top notch!
Ryder has everything he could want…well except recovering from literally breaking his freaking neck on that last ride. Now his grandmother is making ultimatums while he’s just trying to get better. She is insisting on him marrying and having a baby. That might be all fine and good except (1) he’s gay, (2) he’s not even dating anyone let alone seriously, (3) the ranch and rodeo company was always suppose to go to him and (4) what the heck is that woman up to? When his best buddy calls asking if he can crash at his ranch to recover after a horrific bull accident Ryder books a ticket for Kase to get there pronto. But when Kase discovers his granny’s ultimatum he might just have the best solution. But can he make it permanent???
These two men are literally broken and recovering. Ryder from his broken neck that literally one centimeter with direction would have left him wheelchair bound or worse. And Kase is recovering from basically broken from his pelvis down from that last ride. Both men knows how hurting the other one is. But where Ryder had the love of his grannies to nurse him back Kase literally has no one to love on him and make sure he heals. I loved how now was finally the right time and place for these two cowboys to fall for each other.
Taking on foster kids that are not accepted because they are LGBTQ+ was really awesome. Ryder because he knows he has the means and Kase because he gets it. He’s been there. And those kiddos are all precious and the perfect family addition to Ryder, Kase and the Grannies. And those kids got the right home there with them all!
I am hoping that the next book in the series continues with Ryder and Kase taking in more kids that need a safe home where they aren’t judged by who they are attracted to. I have a feeling that cowboying and ranching may become second to love, support and acceptance of kids who really need it at their ranch home. This is a truly special book that warms your heart and makes you thankful there are good people out there when kids need them. I can’t wait for the next book!!!
