Hayden
I’m the fun one. The loud one. The overly opinionated one with no filter.
I’ve been unapologetically me since day one, and it hasn’t been easy.
Kicked out of my home when I was sixteen, I chose to be alone rather than not be my true self.
I found my family now and a job I love. I have everything, and yet . . .
I’m still an outcast in so many ways.
Tristan
I’m not fun. I’m far too quiet. I keep to myself.
I don’t really have a reason for it. I had a loving family who was loud enough for me to fade into the background.
And then, I stumbled into a friendship with the boldest human I’ve ever met.
Beautiful and strong. He confuses me. He challenges me. He makes me want to come out of the shadows and discover who I want to be.
He may have been shunned by his family, but they didn’t deserve him.
Hayden was meant to shine—not to be cast out by anyone. He makes the world brighter, and not even I can resist it.
REVIEW:
I really enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to seeing what was up between the police office and the fun guy.
Hayden always appears to be the life of the party. The fun one that always has a smile. But those who really know and love him know that this is all a mask. He’s the one that makes sure everyone else is okay and getting the HEA’s. But he knows he’s unloveable. His father made sure he understood that he was a jezebel and a whore. He tricked good boys with his evil, seductive ways. So Hayden did what he had to do. He ran away at the tender age of sixteen and did what ever he needed for him to survive. When Rae and Lawson came into the picture on the streets he made sure they were protected ad got them all out of there. Now they, along with Nash and Adrian are his found family. But it’s the sexy as son police officer with the body of a god that sparks his attention. When Tristan and Hayden become best friends Tristan starts to question why none of his dates his sister sets him up on works. And why is he thinking more and more about his new sexy best friend who is a guy???
I really liked the first book I read Backslide that was Nash and Adrian’s story. I guess there was another book that was Rae and Lawson’s story and how they met up with Hayden. Hayden has played a pivotal role in these stories and was long due for his own HEA that he truly deserved. He may have come off as the jovial jokester but his life has not been easy and he truly needed someone as special and caring as Tristan to show him how lovable he truly is. Tristan is the kind of guy that everyone wants for their best friend that deserves the world. And Hayden is that guy. I mean, how great and genuinely caring is he that he was literally willing to sell his body to get the medications that Lawson needed when they were on the streets.
I love all the characters in these books. They show that perseverance and love trumps all and the strong are survivors. What ever their journey has been does not defining them but shows their strength and determination.
I have no clue why this is not shown as a series but I believe that reading the previous book(s) is a definite plus. It gives a clearer view of the backstories that you will journey into here however it isn’t mandatory to understanding the book. But why not? They’re fabulous!
