ALEKSEI
I just want to get through grad school without being cut off from funding by my homophobic father. The last thing I need is to be lusting after my new roommate, associate professor Logan Pierce. All he’s offering is a place to crash for a couple weeks, but every time he flashes his surfer boy smile at me I daydream about dropping to my knees.
At first glance Logan is an easygoing slacker. But he’s also sweet, generous, and takes my weird habits in stride. He doesn’t even tease me when he finds out I’m a virgin—instead, he proposes the perfect arrangement: he’ll teach me everything I’ve never experienced, no strings attached.
I can’t turn down the chance to get my fill.
But my heart doesn’t get the memo, because it wants more than casual.
More can never happen. Not if I want to make it to graduation and finally escape my family.
Because if we start something real…I don’t think I’ll be able to let it go.
LOGAN
I’m happy to drift through life on easy mode. So what if there’s a voice in the back of my head telling me something’s missing? I don’t put much stock in it until prickly grad student Aleksei needs a place to stay and I offer up my spare room on impulse. Suddenly my easy life is turned upside down.
Aleksei won’t let me wash my own dishes and meditates naked. He’s bossy, buttoned-up…and sexy as hell. For the first time in forever I’m in lust—which is bad enough, because he’s ten years younger than me with a family from hell. He needs someone his own age, someone who’s got it together. But when my lust grows legs and saunters right on over to the ‘feelings’ department I’m in deep trouble. I’ve never felt this way about anyone…and the last thing Aleksei needs is a relationship with a guy like me. A relationship that could jeopardize everything he’s worked for.
Yet when Aleksei turns tail on our arrangement, I might be ready to chase what I want for once in my life.
THE ROOMMATE PROPOSAL is an MM romance featuring a first times, a grumpy/sunshine duo, and a steamy lesson plan, all wrapped up in a roommates-with-benefits package.
REVIEW:
A slow, sexy burn.
Aleksei is a grad student just trying to get done. His parents, especially his father, are extremely homophobic, and control his grandfather’s trust fund that is financing his schooling. Any slip up and his dad will jerk away the money in a heartbeat. So Aleksei toes the line, never, ever even looks at another man in fear of his father’s retribution. But toeing the line while living in an apartment with some party crazy roommates makes life extremely difficult. When one of his roommates decides not to go smoke his joint outside Aleksei wakens to the sprinklers soaking everything he owns. Now he is homeless and in a real jam. When Professor Pierce, the supervisor of Jay’s lab and college professor, heard of Aleksei’s predicament he offers up a room in his giant, lonely house. Logan is lonely. So lonely that he can’t sleep at night in his big house up on the hill. And what was he thinking offering one of the grad students a place to stay. A grad student that is the number’s guy on Jay’s project that he supervises at the lab!
Logan and Aleksei seemed like oil and water. Logan is happy go lucky and takes life as it comes. Aleksei is all about routine, expectations and order. It took me awhile for me to warm up to Aleksei. The man was as prickly as a pear and stubborn as a mule. I get where he is coming from. His father literally has him by the strings like a marionette doll. Thankful Logan had the patience to deal with Aleksei because I sure wouldn’t have. But the more that we got to know the true Aleksei the more I realized that his act was a mask to hide behind for protection.
I wasn’t sure for the longest time if I was even going to get my much needed HEA with these guys. Yes the Chester was scorching hot but I wasn’t sure that Logan could convince Aleksei to let down his walls and just feel! My heart hurt for him and the constant struggles that he internalized to be able to reach his goal. I’m thankful that he finally figured things out but I then worried it might have been too late. Thankfully Logan had a family he could depend upon and a loving mother that was always there to lend an ear.
I did question the appropriateness of their relationship with Logan being Aleksei’s supervisor. Thankfully he wasn’t one of his professors that he answered to on his thesis. I’m glad that the author did address this situation.
In my opinion I believe that reading the first book will help make more sense to the story. If you are looking for a slow build to a relationship with lots of sexy lessons along the way then this is the book for you.
