Every psychopath in the Mulvaney family has a role to play. Archer Mulvaney is the gambler, a drunken reprobate making his living as a high-stakes poker player. Very few people know the real Archer, not even his brothers. But there is one man who knows far too much.
Mackenzie Shepherd spends his days photographing endangered wildlife. He’s also the brother of a sociopath and son to the woman who literally wrote the book on raising one. When his mother asks him to head a secret government project, it seems like the perfect excuse to run away from his life.
But running from his past has Mac colliding straight into Archer. And that’s a problem. For this project to be successful, Mac and Archer have to agree on every decision, and the two see eye-to-eye on nothing. Except, maybe the sex. The sex is off the charts.
When Mac’s old life comes back to haunt him, Archer insists on putting their differences aside to help keep him safe. But Mac, like Archer, is used to solving things on his own. Can they finally stop fighting each other to find the truth, or is their relationship the next thing on the endangered species list?
Lunatic is a filthy hot, enemies to lovers, psychopath romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers. It features a sexy, roguish degenerate and a hunky bleeding heart ginger who love how much they hate each other. As always, there’s gratuitous violence, very dark humor, more blood than a slaughterhouse, and enough heat to melt your metaphorical undies. This is book six in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.
REVIEW:
Dang, the prologue already set the tone, James Mulvaney walks into dark chambers to meet this young boy, he’s drenched in blood, not his.
Archer and Mac’s encounters are rough, brutal, and full of angry fucks, just to get each other out of their system, which doesn’t help.
Now they have to work together and Archer feels like exploding, Mac fights him on every point.
Just to fuck with his head. While Archer is frantic, Mac chuckles and teases Archer to madness.
Archer is the psychopath, the one who wants to keep the thing between them strictly physical.
Mac is the one with feelings. Dismissed by Archer isn’t fun.
When someone wants Mac dead, Archer is ordered to help him. Under Archer’s killer exterior and psychopathic mind lies a soul who wants to conquer Mac and make him his.
Well, that worked, and not how he expected or planned.
“So maybe the hypocritical apple didn’t fall far from the psycho-loving tree.”
There’s still the threat to Mac’s life. It goes way deeper than they expected.
When you’re part of the Mulvaney family they protect what’s theirs. Watch their brains work. Amazeballs!
Working with family, selected for their utterly extraordinary skills is the solution to solve this problem. All in the middle of a desert of all places, poor Felix, lol.
The torture was quite satisfying, I should probably say painful to watch, but no, it was satisfying!
They only kill the dirt of the earth. With Thomas as head of their billionaires imperial, they try to make the world a bit better, in their own particular way, that’s for sure.
The story was cruel and tantalizing. To be honest, I expected more from Mac and Archer their relationship, it started quite rough, but further on it was way less intense than that of the other brothers. Of course still a great addition to this extraordinary series.
The whole story was strongly written, the viciousness and hurt were palpable, the humor, the interactions between the brothers and their spouses was downright hilarious.
I’m biting my nails, so looking forward to the next story, it’s Aiden’s!!
