Special Agent Leo Reeves is new to the FBI’s L.A. field office. His career has been on track since the day he joined the bureau. He loves his job as a profiler and being assigned to a new team in one of the busiest offices in the nation will be the opportunity of a lifetime…if he can put the past behind him. The face Leo shows the world is strong, focused, dependable, and capable. The long list of citations in his file only serve to prove how good he is.
If he could only forget he was sired by a monster.
Former Marine Staff Sergeant, Max Prince, leads by example. Whether it means protecting men in battle, working for the US Marshal service, or being the best damn field agent the FBI has ever seen, he brings a special kind of bravery to the job. His teammates depend on his ready smiles, his funny jokes, and know him as the excellent agent he’s proven to be. They never see the man who buried his heart eight years ago.
The last thing he wants is to fall for the new guy.
When a serial killer suddenly starts targeting innocents, both men have trouble pinning down who they’re dealing with. With victimology all over the place, Leo can’t make sense of a profile, and Max simply wants to put the bastard away before he murders anyone else. The case is maddening but worse, the attraction the two men find every time they look at each other, is beginning to get in the way.
REVIEW:
Oh my goodness. I hadn’t realized how badly I missed Patty’s gorgeous, brave and honorable agents!
We got to see so many of my favorite men. Lincoln Snow is now SAC Snow and has chosen the best of the best for his FBI own team in LA. Now he just needed a profiler and he got the best of the best out of Quantico. Leo may be young but he has what it takes to be a top FBI profiler. He may have been nudged into the job after his family was ruined by one of the most disturbing serial killers in Florida history…who just happened to be his father. He is throw right into his new job the second his plane has landed from Honolulu and he arrives late at the offices. A deprived killer has emerged and Leo knows instantly this isn’t the first or last time the sadistic killer has killed. Now it is up to him to unravel the pieces of the puzzle along with his new team.
Max and Leo are smoking hot and their chemistry together sizzles. It was just a matter of time before they simply couldn’t resist the inevitable. They each knew it was a bad idea to mix work and sex but they simply couldn’t ignore nature. But it was their backstories tore me to pieces. Leo and his family living through the sins of his father and how it almost destroyed their lives. And poor Max. Nothing could have prepared me for Ben’s story. They needed to find each other.
I really enjoyed getting to know this unique and highly qualified team. We met several new faces while getting to reconnect with some fan favorites. You can’t bring in the LAPD to work with the FBI in Los Angeles without bringing in Detectives Cassidy Ryan and Mike Williams. It just wouldn’t work. Just like SAC Lincoln Snow is always going to call for help from his colleague SAC Sarah Connor at the ATF…who just happens to be his wife! And if the ATF is involved I had better get to see two of my most favorite book boyfriends ATF Agent Jarrett Evans and his amazing husband Agent Thayne Wolfe. Thankfully Patty left them both in one piece for once.
I can already tell that I’m going to be chomping at the bit for each of the books to come in this new series. I love how all these agents risk their lives on a daily basis for the citizens they have taken an oath to guard and protect. This first book hooked me and I couldn’t set it down. I loved the supernatural series that Patty took us on a side ride on with for a bit but these agents simply just do it for me and I’m so thankful to return to all of them.
Fantastic start to what promises to be a riveting and thought provoking series that’s so good that you won’t be able to sit it down! Huge thumbs up!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
