BLURB:
Gabe Kingman has never been great with his emotions. His disastrous personal life is evidence enough of that. Returning to be a doctor in his small Colorado hometown was supposed to bring him closer to his family, not push them even further away. He’s been slowly working to repair the mistakes he’s made, but his efforts aren’t made any easier by the new existence of vampires in his world. Especially one pesky, annoyingly beautiful vampire in particular.
Soren Iversen never meant to stay in Hyde Park this long. He hasn’t kept himself alive for centuries by letting himself be a sitting duck. But instead of moving on months ago, he’s been kicking his heels in the most boring town in the world, hoping for one stubborn, annoyingly compelling human to pay him even a bit of attention.
When circumstances force the two of them together, Soren’s obsession and Gabe’s unwilling attraction are brought to a head. But Soren has been running for a reason, and the skeletons in his closet threaten to tear the couple apart before they can even begin.
SOREN IS A HEATED, FATED-MATES MM PARANORMAL ROMANCE WITH A HEA AND NO CLIFFHANGER. IT CONTAINS A STUBBORN, EMOTIONALLY-REPRESSED ICU DOCTOR, AND A BRATTY, SLIGHTLY UNHINGED VAMPIRE NOT AFRAID TO STALK A MAN TO GET WHAT HE WANTS. IT ALSO CONTAINS STEAMY SCENES BETWEEN TWO MEN, AND THE MODERATE VIOLENCE (AND MENTIONS OF BLOOD) THAT ONE MIGHT EXPECT FROM A VAMPIRE ROMANCE. THIS BOOK CAN BE READ AS A STANDALONE, BUT THE SERIES IS BEST ENJOYED IN ORDER.
REVIEW:
I couldn’t wait for this next book in this series. Grae Bryan has rapidly rose to a one-click must have author for me.
Gabe doesn’t like our trust the monsters in his town…no matter how gorgeous they are. Vampires and magic just don’t work for him. And now his little brother, that he practically raised and protected, is one of them and married to his vampire fated mate! What the heck is going on? And does that Soren have to be so drop dead gorgeous??? When Roman and Danny decide to finally go on their three-week honeymoon in Bali they leave their precious puppy Ferdy in both Danny’s brother Gabe and Roman’s best friend Soren’s care. They know the the two men would rather do anything than to stay in their house together for three weeks. At least Gabe would. Soren has know that he is attracted to the blond doctor but is careful around him. Every since he saved Gabe from Lucien he knew that he had to protect the gorgeous hunk. But how could he convince him he wasn’t the monster he thought him to be…or at least not that kind of monster?
I loved when I accidentally stumbled on the first book in this series and fell in love with Danny and his vampire mate Roman. I didn’t think that stoic Gabe, Danny’s older brother, and Soren, Roman’s bratty best friend could ever be a match. Boy was I surprised, not only by their mating, but their tragic back stories. These two couldn’t have been a better match. Soren soothed Gabe’s anxieties and Gabe grounded Soren in a way no one else ever could have. But fated mates have a way of grounding their vampires and making them all protective.
I did love how Soren and Gabe evolved after Gabe’s anxiety attack. It opened the door to starting to question and allow to trust. And I really loved how patient it turned out that both Soren and Gabe were. They turned out to be the polar opposite of what my original thoughts of them were. I think their story was even more touching than Danny and Roman’s and that’s saying a lot. These two figured out just what the other needed and patiently waited for that to happen. And I loved the cuddles just as much as their scorching chemistry.
The author states that we get Lucien’s book next and I can guarantee that cinnamon is going to be a key element. I’m wondering if a certain freckled read-head has a cinnamon scent? I know that Lucien is the true believe in fated mates. I just hope he doesn’t go feral before he finds his. And I am really, really hoping we get sweet little Jay’s story. That delightful young man deserves his HEA too. I just hope it’s someone who knows how to cook because that young man seems hopeless in the kitchen.
