Becoming a Daddy isn’t for the faint of heart or the Absinthe Minded!
Cordon March has been a vagabond all his adult life, never meeting Mr. Right or settling down. He’s on the brink of adopting confirmed bachelorhood at forty-five and giving up on love completely, pouring all of his pent-up love and passion into a new business venture—Ima-GIN-ation Distillery. He’s moved to South Padre Island to be with the family and friends he’s met at On the Rocks, and he’s ready to embrace a life lived alone.
Marsden Dempsey has had life backhand him in the mouth and put its foot on his neck for as long as he can remember. He’s just been released from prison and has been relocated to South Padre Island to be near his friend and fellow ex-con, Tanner Bledsoe. Mars is lost and in dire need of guidance to keep from making another mistake, but his best friend is taking steps in his life that leave him with little time to be Mars’ safety net.
When Mars shows up while Tanner is on his honeymoon, it falls on Cord to help the boy adjust to his new normal. Cord can’t help but notice the guy has more than a few quirks, and as he learns about Mars’ unfortunate past, he yearns to provide the boy with stability, guidance, and support—all the things a good Daddy gives his boy.
Can Cord make the transition from Dom to Daddy and give his sweet boy everything he needs? There’s no room for Absinthe Minded-ness if Cord’s going to get the future he’s dreamed of having for years…
##
Absinthe Minded, is the intoxicating final tale in the On the Rocks M/M contemporary romance series. If you like captivating characters, hurt/comfort, age-gap, Daddy/boy romance, then you’ll adore Sam E. Kraemer’s love-and-courage-infused escape.
REVIEW:
Marsden Dempsey is the young man that Tanner lost his eye in prison to save his life from the man that made him his Prison Slave, Beryl Rollings. Marsden turned against his owner and now Rollings is in prison for life and Marsden is now in WITSEC under the name Bailey “Mars” Marsden. They have relocated him to South Padre Island to be close to Tanner. However Tanner and Kelso have tied the knot and are in Europe on their honeymoon. Tanner turns to their housemate Cordon “Cord” March for help. Cord is Leo’s business partner in the distillery they are building Ima-GIN-nation and his boyfriend’s twin brother. When Mars takes one look at Cord he drops to the floor and assumes the required submissive position. But Cord isn’t interested in being a Dom any more. He’s 45 and has reconciled with the knowledge that he is meant to be a bachelor the rest of his life. Or is he?
Oh my goodness! Poor sweet Mars! Tanner’s story just about did me in and now knowing the entire story it just guts me that someone is so disgustingly even and demented as Beryl Rollings was. He deserves every evil thing that could happen to him and his cronies. The sick and twisted things that he did to that sweet boy earned him a special spot in hell! Thankfully Mars had Tanner and then his Daddy Cord to help him.
I was so excited about getting this book and then I realized that this is the last book in this series and I was suddenly saddened. I have truly loved getting to know all these guys and their families. I am hoping, as has happened in the past, that we will get moments with these guys again in cross-over stories with The Lonely Heroes series. This series was of how good can and does triumph over even. It also is a great series on second chances and given a chance to rise above past actions. I will warn you that there are some pretty gruesome stories recounted of the mental and physical trauma that poor Mars was subjected to. But seeing him come out the other side and thrive, with the help of his daddy was so worth it! You really, really need to read these books in other to get the whole picture. What a treat you are in for.
