BLURB:
Cho “Brick” Brixton enjoys cooking, working in his yard, and binge-watching television while living as an out and proud gay man in the heart of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. His parents had the perfect romance, having fallen in love at first sight when they met in Korea, and Brick longs to find a love like that for his own. Whipping up meals for one isn’t much fun, and the constant boredom is a drag.
Not to mention it’s miserably lonely.
All of that changes when a giant mysterious hunk named Jules Price moves in next door. Jules has arrived on business of the not-so-legal sort, namely to retrieve something that was stolen from his criminal family. When he’s not busy being a vicious gangster, Jules is set on getting close to Brick and exploring his first ever attraction to another man. Although Brick has been yearning for the excitement of meeting that special someone, he soon realizes he may have bitten off more than he can swallow.
As their romance heats up, so too does the danger, and Brick finds himself in the middle of a bloodbath in the making if Jules can’t get back what he came here for. Luckily for Brick, Jules is the kind of man who will stop at nothing to keep him safe, and he doesn’t care who gets in his way—or how high the body count gets.
Cash is part of the Ruthless Daddies multi-author collab and a complete standalone. Expect to find a criminal Daddy, a tough boy, high steam, and some dark mafia themes. Want more deliciously morally gray Daddies and boys? Grab the whole series!
REVIEW:
Brick is an interesting guy. Smart, funny and thinks his life is pretty good. A little lonely but you can’t have everything right? When Jules comes into his life like a bull in a china shop he’s equally parts scared and turned on.
Jules is the definition of a no-bullshit kinda guy. He says what he thinks and if you don’t like it? To bad, he’ll say it anyway. But, Brick’s world isn’t the only one turned upside down when Jules bulldozes his way into Brick’s life.
I love the “good” bad guy premise. Jules does what he has to for his chosen family but he’s really not out there looking for trouble for the sake of trouble. Brick makes him want something more and Jules (who has just figured out he’s not completely straight and is looking to explore all he can) just goes with it.
I liked the premise and loved the characters. Brick realizing that maybe he’s not exactly who he always thought he was is really interesting and there’s no denying the chemistry between the two men. The sex is screaming hot and this author really does know how to write it, I just wish there was a little bit less. The banter between Brick and Jules is awesome and I love Jules relationship with his “brothers”. The snarky banter and squabbling goes a long way to humanizing them all.
There was nothing really surprising for me. It didn’t take me long to figure out what was what, but sometimes where the journey is taking you isn’t as important as the trip itself.
Me? I’m a sucker for big strong daddies who take care of their boys. This is my favorite, strong and sweet with lots of cuddles and if you like your “heroes” a little on the dangerous side, Jules and Brick are just what you’re looking for. I think I’ll go check out the rest of the books in this series. This book is a stand-alone but I’m curious to see who else is getting into trouble.
