If you knew you’d die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day?
After gorging myself at the nearest Korean BBQ, I’d probably find some way to put my body in a compromising position for someone I didn’t like. Like a homophobic politician or someone like that. I’d deck myself out in lingerie too, so when they found my body it would be twice as embarrassing for them.
What are you passionate about these days?
I’m really into carnivorous plants but, unfortunately, I don’t have a green thumb. I had a nice collection at one point, but I’ve killed everything aside from some sturdy Nepenthes and butterworts. It doesn’t help that I’m growing everything in my one-window bedroom under a bunch of grow lights. My hardier plants include a Hoya lacunosa, Hoya pubicalyx ‘Black Dragon’ (really glad that I haven’t killed that one), a Meyer Lemon tree, a Yuzu seedling, a Paphiopedilum orchid (I think it’s a ‘Hsinying Alien’?), a Black Pearl pepper plant, and some sad little Lemon Drop peppers that are on their way out.
Do you have a favorite movie?
My new favorite movie is Malignant, directed by James Wan. I can’t stand the Conjuring series, so I was surprised when Malignant came out and I loved it. It was just so over the top, especially the scene in the police station! I’ll try not to give any spoilers, but Gabriel was my favorite character. I thought he was very sympathetic. Marina Mazepa and Ray Chase did such fantastic jobs bringing him to life.
What inspired you to write this book?
Quite a few things inspired me to write this, but I think I can boil it down to my fear of bot flies, a love of carnivorous plants, playing Resident Evil 7, and my monster fetish. For those of you who haven’t played RE7, I heartily recommend it. This is a spoiler, but it’s about a humanoid bioweapon that escapes into the swamps of the Louisiana Bayou and terrorizes a family. I’ve always loved monsters, and the idea of exploring what it would be like to date one really appealed to me. As for the actual parasites in my book, those were inspired by bot flies, which I heard about while on a university trip to Nicaragua. Luckily, I’ve never seen them in person but there are some nasty videos of them on Youtube.
Parasite
by Ridley Harker
Genre: Horror, LGBTQ Romance
Some teenagers are a little more monstrous than others.
Seventeen-year-old Jack Ives is used to being unlucky. His only friend has just moved away to college, his parents are alcoholics, and he’s relentlessly bullied by the town psychopath. All that begins to change with the arrival of a handsome but quirky new student, Lucien, who wants to be more than friends.
Their newfound happiness doesn’t last, however, as a strange new illness strikes the island. Fishermen go missing, and the villagers left behind aren’t themselves anymore. When Lucien is suspected to be the cause of the outbreak, can Jack overcome his teenage hormones and save Eldrick Isle? Will he even want to?

This book sounds very interesting. I don’t know if I lived in a place where I was hated or treated bad, that I would want to save it or it’s people.
Me either, Heath! 😉
sounds great
Thanks, Jodi!
Sounds interesting. We don’t really get to see a lot of horror in lgbt, or atleast i haven’t.
It’s a growing genre! 🙂
What a good scary theme, cheers.
Thank you, Calvin!
