Can he protect the town and his fated mate from the evil hunting him, or will an ex-lover’s betrayal cost Liam everything he loves?
REVIEW:
This was a sweet easy to read fated mates’ book, it was fast paced and started with Liam running for his life from a supernatural hitman hired by his ex-boyfriend, ouch that must have hurt.
Liam was sassy and sweet with a flair for the dramatic who didn’t guess that he would end up in a shifter friendly town filled with psychics. He was a librarian for goodness’ sake how did he end up being hunted by a hitman. It was no wonder he wasn’t looking for love, just a quiet place he could lay low and re-start his life.
Russ has it all a firefighter, mechanic, tow truck driver and all-around hunky wolf shifter. He has not recovered from losing his husband and struggles with his attraction to Liam. His relationship with his brother and friends is tight and they form their own pack. In fact, most of the people in the town are misfits, who haven’t fitted in elsewhere but find their place in Fox Hollow.
The action picks up with mysterious fires and missing people with Liam putting his murder mystery sleuthing skills to the test, he learnt everything he knows about sleuthing from reading, and I so identified with this fact.
Like in all shifter stories their animal sides were quickly onboard and pushing the more cautious human sides who had their own issues and insecurities to deal with. The conversations with their animals’ sides were so funny and quirky.
The psychics element was unexpected and fun, it was a nice twist to have another supernatural element to this book whilst still being a predominantly shifter romance. The psychics were only briefly entwined in this book, but I suspect they will play a larger role in subsequent books.
It was an actioned packed race to the finish so that Liam and Russ could get their happy ending and a twist in the tail for who was behind it all.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one in the series.
