Thomas met me at my condo fifteen minutes later. He asked about the game as I fiddled with the lock.
“I enjoyed your game more than I thought I would. It was entertaining and fast-paced. I don’t get corner kicks and the part where someone throws the ball in willy-nilly. I thought you weren’t supposed to touch the ball.”
“You’re not, but the player throwing the ball is out of bounds,” I explained.
“I see. I mean…I don’t, but maybe I’ll catch on. I have to pay closer attention. You ran so quickly that I almost missed your first kick.”
“Goal,” I corrected, cracking a reluctant smile as I turned on the light in the foyer.
“Yes, that’s it. You know there’s science behind all sports.”
“Oh, yeah?”
“Absolutely. The curve, spin, or bend of an object by force is called the Magnus effect, where airwaves move over the spinning ball and…”
I dropped my bag on the floor and kicked off my shoes. My tentative mood lifted as he spoke about weight, drag, lift, and side force. God, he was so…charming, so kind, and so good.
So sexy too. I crowded him against the wall and unbuttoned his shirt. “Keep talking, Professor.”
He captured my face instead and stared into my eyes, silently demanding me to slow down, relax. Then ever so gently, he sealed his lips over mine.
I rested one arm over his shoulders and lost myself in deep kisses. My free hand dealt with his buttons and dipped to unbuckle his belt. I unzipped his khakis and started to sink to my knees, but Thomas shook his head.
“My turn.”
