You know what I’d like to know? Where the hell my romantic, how-we-got-engaged story is. Am I going to get it any time soon? Where is my bigass diamond?
Unfortunately, all that relationship angst gets put on hold when my beloved son, Bellamy, is abducted by a werewolf-ish person I kinda like. Am I going to get my kid back? You betcha. The question is, how many people does Fox have to kill first?
The Trouble With Trying to Save an Assassin is the second book in the Murder Sprees and Mute Decrees Series. It’s a 60k word M/M Paranormal Romance with plenty of sass, gore, and questionable decision-making skills, and now there are tiny tables too.
REVIEW:
NOTE: This is book 2 in the series and frankly if you didn’t read book 1, you’ll be lost. Do not do it.
I’m not going to even BOTHER trying to recap the plot for this one. Suffice to say, take book one two the squared power and that sort of gives you a level set. Romily continues to be his super snarky, sassy, punny self. As I mentioned with my review of the first book, if you’re a fan of Alice Winters’s Hitman series, then this one will probably work for you. Luckily it totally works for me.
In this latest installment, we get more world-building and more characters 🙂 It picks up right where the first book ends and continues the story of Romily, Fox, and their adopted son Bellamy. There’s usual humor, murder (but only for bad people) and chaos galore! Romily and Fox are getting used to their role of embarrassing parents. There are more paranormal surprises and a new addition to this little found family. This tome however, has a bit more of a serious and emotional tone at times which was welcome to balance some of the rest of the action. There are definitely some more serious events that underscore the love between Rom and Fox and but the rest of their created family as well. Sometimes I really wondered where all this was going as the plot and characters zip around. But in the end it all makes sense 😉 I’m very excited for the next book in the series and can’t wait to see what new chaos will ensue.
For a super fun fast-paced surprising adventure, this book has it all. Highly recommended.
