I’m a medium so someone please tell me how I never saw this coming.
We’re at war with no idea why or how to stop the enemy, so when head vampire Augustus suggests we pair up to stay safe, logically it makes sense. Unfortunately for me, I end up with the only hyper vampire as my new roommate.
Laramie has been making puppy dog eyes at me since the first time we met, but what he doesn’t know is I have zero intention of falling down the in-love-with-a-vampire hole like my friends Leo and Presley have. I don’t have time for a relationship and no desire to be immortal. A mortal lifespan is more than enough, thank you very much.
What I don’t expect is Laramie to be so damn brilliant. Even with my connection to the spirit world, his time on the planet has given him insights I could never have. When he’s being serious, which is rare, I can hardly take my eyes off him. Slowly, I find myself feeling things. I’m not interested in love, but I might have time for some fun. I thought the vampire would make a bad roommate, but I’m beginning to think our living situation won’t be so bad after all.
Vampires Make Bad Roommates is an MM paranormal romance featuring a studious, no-nonsense librarian medium, a vampire with border collie energy, a slow burn romance with a quick burn attraction, antique books, secret passages, and more demons causing havoc. It is book three in the Covens of Eaton Falls series. Each book features a different couple with an ongoing conflict and therefore should be read in order.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the third book in this series and contains major spoilers for the previous books and builds directly on a common story arc. It is recommended to read the series in order 🙂
Riley, one of the witches, has been paired up with Laramie, one of the vampires. While Leo and Presley, his fellow witch friends, have found their true mates with their vampires Augustus and Beto, Riley is intent on not getting close to Laramie. They live together and Laramie looks out for him, but Riley has no desire to become friends with Laramie. But the more time they spend together, the more Riley sees that Laramie has his best interests at heart and despite his rather cold reception, Laramie will do what he needs to in order to keep Riley safe and make him happy.
When Riley learns that everything he thought to be true is in fact not true, he’ devastated. But Laramie is right there to support him. Riley is confused by this, but his friends and his spirit guides try to help him understand. Riley is adamant that he does not want to be immortal – he’s having a difficult enough time with a mortal lifespan thank you very much.
When Laramie and Riley are in jeopardy, they have to work together. Riley finally begins to realize that maybe he’s not been completely honest with himself. With some gentle and not so gentle prodding, he realizes that he needs to embrace his fate. It means everything to him, Laramie, his friends and the cause.
This series is getting super interesting. We have more creatures and I am intrigued how all of these paranormal species work together. There is a lot of action and drama as Riley learns about the secrets that have been hidden from him and his reactions are completely understandable. He is drawn to the gorgeous Laramie but given his past, he really doesn’t want to be. When he finds out that he’s had guardians watching over him all the time, it’s a bit overwhelming = but one of the favorite parts of the story for me – especially as they figure in his and Laramie’s escape 🙂 Laramie for his part is willing to do anything to keep Riley safe. He’s been drawn to him since the he laid eye on him and he’s done really well not being overbearing and playing by Riley’s rules. I could help but root for him the whole story 😀 We still aren’t sure why all this is happening and what the real end game is. But I’m intrigued and can’t wait for the next installment to see where this is leading. Recommended particularly for fans of paranormal and fated mate stories.
