As a young single dad, my life’s all about raising my sweet baby boy. But every Saturday night while my family babysits, I get to go out, cut loose, and act my age. Hey, we all need a break from time to time.
And every Saturday night, I keep winding up in bed with a gorgeous, Cuban-American motorcycle mechanic named Lucky.
The fact that I’m developing feelings for him is a problem, because this was only supposed to be a fling. He’s returning to Miami in a couple of months, and my life is here in San Francisco. Plus, I feel like there’s something he’s not telling me, so maybe I don’t even know the real Lucky.
But I can’t help but wonder–is there any chance this could turn into something real? Or are those few hours we spend together one night a week the best I can hope for?
REVIEW:
Once again, Alexa Land has crafted a beautiful love story. She is on fire with this series; one after the other, each book is superb. She has a gift for developing the sweetest characters. In the previous two books we had sweetie pies Casey, Theo, Lark, and Dylan. Now in the heartwarming Every Saturday Night, we have Logan and his man, Lucky, who might just be the sexiest, most mysterious, dreamiest guy yet.
“I never thought I’d have this.”
In his wildest dreams, Logan Genardi could never have anticipated finding his soulmate in a motorcycle mechanic who brings so much to Logan and his baby son Owen’s lives: love, support, stability, another great dad for Owen, a grandfather, a future, a forever.
Logan shows up in San Francisco to find his brother, Lark. He’s a single parent and doesn’t know where else to turn for help. Little does Logan know he and Owen will never be lacking for love and help again because… Pink Victorian Crew. This found family is closer than ever in this installment of the Firsts and Forever Stories series.
Logan and Lucky meet in an amusing way and start to hang out on Saturday nights. Lucky is thrown for a loop on their second Saturday night date when Logan reveals he’s a single father to a baby boy. Lucky’s shocked but it’s not a deal breaker; what might doom any chance of a relationship, though, is that Lucky needs to move back to Miami in a few months to take over the family business. They carry on with their once a week dates (fortunately baby Owen has oodles of potential babysitters living in the pink Victorian) getting to know each other and indulging in some *fun*. Logan tries not to get too attached but he fails miserably. Lucky is torn. He strives to make his dad proud of him, but that means returning to Miami and giving up the man and his son who he’s falling for.
I love the rescuer trope. Lucky’s a knight in shining armor for Logan and Owen in that he rescues Logan from a very bad situation. But never did it feel like a lopsided relationship despite the six year age difference and disparity in socioeconomic status. Lucky does not hold all the power; they’re equal partners.
The Pink Victorian Crew has a big-time presence in this book, which is fabulous since I love all these characters: Lark and Dylan, Yolanda and JoJo, Kel, and Eliot; even Casey and Theo have cameos. Together they comprise the epitome of a found family. They provide Logan with the supportive, accepting family he never had and has always wanted. And holy cow, Owen now has the most awesome family – aunties and guncles who all adore him.
Owen brings so much joy to the book and brings out the best in everyone. It’s been two decades since I had a little one Owen’s age so I thoroughly enjoyed all the reminders of parenting a one-year-old. Lucky takes to Owen so easily and completely. Never once does he view Logan’s son as anything other than a wonderful blessing. So many feels!
The ending is the perfect happily ever after. Ms. Land pulled out all the stops on giving Logan everything he could ever wish for. You just know this little family of three will be together always. For readers new to this author, this book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend going back to at least Bad Ideas (book four of six in the series) which features the pink Victorian and its denizens for the first time. I highly recommend this book as I have with everything Alexa Land has written.
