Greyson Hayden wants to prove to his ex that he’s made it. He’s a successful stock contractor with a couple of million dollar bulls, a ranch owner with more acres than he can count, and he stopped drinking when Kyler kicked him out. He’s had a lot to prove, but now he’s back in town to show Kyler that he has. And maybe rub it in.
The hardest thing Kyler Lassiter ever did was let Greyson go, and he’s lost a lot in his life, right up to his legs in a terrible accident. He’s willing to let Greyson one up him if it makes the man feel better, but when fate throws them together again in the most bizarre way, Ky isn’t sure he’ll survive it, or having to lose Greyson again when it’s all said and done.
Can these two hardheaded cowboys learn to forgive each other, and themselves in time to find something lasting, or are they more broken than broken in?
This is a MM cowboy romance with tough love, tough luck, and lots of learning to be something new.
REVIEW:
Wow what a ride!
Kyler Lassiter has had a really rough go of it. The man that he loved with all his heart was never going to get better with him around to pick him back up again. Greyson Hayden had to go. The man had to grow up and get dried out permanently. He loved Grey. That was never the problem. But he always came second to the bottom of the bottle. Then the unspeakable happened…a freak accident and now he was a double amputee trying to keep his horse breeding operation afloat. It took years but he was finally back on track. He had what was left of his ranch, his emotional support dog/companion Snow, his horse business and his best friend Tim and his family. He had everything he needed…that is until his ex comes back for the rodeo and they need to speak. Ten years was a long time but was it long enough that they were both Broken In?
I can even begin to imagine all that Kyler has been through to survive. Thankfully he has had his best friend Tim and his wife Mari and their kids, especially his precious goddaughter Kaitlyn who was as close as he would ever have to his own child. And that girl loved her Uncle Kyler just as fiercely. I don’t know if he would have survived without all their love and support.
Kyler has spirit and is a fighter. So when that unfortunate mishap with Greyson landed him back in surgery it could have went really badly. But Greyson isn’t the same young man that couldn’t let a drink go by. He is all grown up and responsible thanks to Kyler tossing him out on his butt years before. And he’s not going to walk away from Kyler when he needs him most. Now he just needs to show him he’s not that same man anymore but still madly in love with him. Thankfully Kyler never stopped loving Greyson either.
This was an amazing story of overcoming so many obstacles and still triumphing. Yes they were both still stubborn, hard headed and proud cowboys but they also were loving, caring and true to each other. I did love that Kyler’s amputated legs weren’t a thing that turned Grey off but made him love and admire him even more. This was a great book that left me with all the true feels in the end. By far the best BA Tortuga book I have ever read and that’s saying a lot!
