Jonathan Bills is a happy guy. He walked away from family commitments he knew he could never live up to, he’s got his dream job as a personal chef, and he has amazing friends. So if he’s getting a little too old for the kind of relationship he really wants, then he’s going to work on being content with what he has. Until an old flame turns up when he least expects it, and in his inner circle of all places, where Jon would never expect to see the man.
When Rush Devlin goes to his first get together with the group from the Playground, he’s shocked to run into Jonathan, the volatile one who got away so many years ago. He’s confused by the changes Jon has made in his life, but he’s also impressed. Rush is also older and wiser these days, and it turns out that Jon is just the kind of lover he’s been hoping to find, and to take care of.
They blew up in spectacular fashion years ago, so how will Rush convince Jon that they’re perfect for each other now, and that he’s not looking for a much younger man to fill his needs?
REVIEW:
How I wish The Playground Bookstore was near me. What a wonderful place to visit.
Jonathan has come to the conclusion that he has aged out as a “boy” and no “daddy” is ever going to want him. His previous Daddy of 8 years was a cheater that left him doubting everything. And now, at his safe place at The Playground Daddy and boys group, his college boyfriend that their relationship literally ended in flames (and the fire department) just sat down. Now he has nothing and has to escape with his best friend to get away. Rush realizes that there is something very different that his old flame from college. Jonathan was a rich, sliver spoon born in his mouth, spoiled brat. Or at least that’s how he came off. Nothing like the sweet man that exited quickly the new group that he was invited to attend. But he isn’t the driven dancer of ten years ago either. A career-ending knee injury and surgery saw to that dream ending but now he is a successful choreographer and settled in Boston. He just needs a boy to fulfill his Daddy needs. Can a self made boy and a daddy who needs to be needed make a go of it ten years later or will they burst into flames again???
I really like Rush. He took his time and discovered who he was and what he really needed in a relationship. And Jonathan was perfect. He gave up literally everything from his former rich life to pursue what he really wanted in life. It was heartbreaking to hear how his former daddy, who was a manipulative user in my opinion, broke his heart, and in that, his spirit too! Jonny needed a loving and caring man that could not only nurture his strong professional side but snuggle and protect his boy side too.And Rush was just the daddy to step into that role.
I was thrilled that we got to see Winston again. He was a great support for Rush. And I’m hoping that Dustin’s story is the next book in this series because he really does need a strong daddy.
This is a quick read series that deals with the daddy and boy dynamic without age regression. Just some great love and support by strong men that love on their boys completely and protect them when needed.
