He’s a feared recluse and an emotionless tyrant living in a dark manor filled with painful memories… until he meets the one omega he cannot resist.
Corvaiz is one of the wealthiest alphas in the country with a ruthless business reputation and a frightening countenance. Once, he strictly controlled an alpha tribute who is now married to a professor at Moonrise Academy. Corvaiz bought his way onto the academy board and now walks the school halls just to keep track of his former vassal.
But when he rescues a young omega from a locker room debacle, thoughts of a deeper past trauma guide him as the bullied boy becomes a priority to protect and keep close.
He’s an eighteen-year-old omega who loves to study and get perfect grades… but all that is suddenly threatened.
In his freshman year at Moonrise Academy, Miles loves his classes and new friends. But when he finds himself the target of four senior alpha bullies, he begins to lose his will… until the academy’s biggest investor rescues him from a fate worse than death.
Miles and Corvaiz could not be more unalike. But an electrifying connection begins to form between them. When Corvaiz offers Miles lessons in self-defense, the peace-loving omega is compelled to accept.
As the bullies become more brazen, and Miles’ growing devotion to Corvaiz crosses a teacher/student line, can Miles find the courage he needs to win both safety and the love he desires most?
Opposites attract, age gap, size difference, bullying (not between the two main characters), rescue, virgin/first time, heat sex, knotting, redemption and HEA.
Author note: This is book 3 in the Moonrise Academy: Shifter Academy Series. While The Heir’s Redemption can be read as a standalone, it is most helpful to read the series in order, especially book 2, The Mysterious Boyfriend, where Corvaiz is a major side character.
REVIEW:
When I read that we were getting Corvaiz’s story I told Ms. Rathbone, on her Facebook page, that she had a very tall order ahead of her to make me ever even consider liking Corvaiz let alone wish a HEA for him. She rose spectacularly to the challenge and made me a believer. She made me not only like him but feel for him in a way I never, ever thought possible after all he did to Vash. And her spectacular vision for the sweet Miles made it impossible to not only want them to get together but made you desire that they fell madly in love and thawed Cor to the core. She did all of that.
Corvaiz is the cruel man that demanded 17 year old Vash as his slave in return for his dear brother Errin’s death by the hands of Vash’s brother. He is a shell of a man. He is richer than Midas and ruthless in business. Now he has invested heavily in Moonrise Academy so he be on the board of directors and watch over Calen, a professor there, that outsmarted the system and got Vash free. While on one of his daily walks through the university he stumbles upon a small omega freshman that has been stuffed and trapped in a locker in the gym dressing room. He feels for the smaller man that has suffered at the hands of a group of 4 alpha bullies that are tormenting the bright younger student. Miles brings back memories of his own tortured youth before he grew and how his twin Errin rescued him. Now he is on a mission to help the boy. But can he do so without falling for who his wolf immediately realizes is his Mate?
If you don’t immediately fall in love and want to protect and guard Miles I don’t know how it’s possible. From his cute, young boy looks to his sweetness factor he’s the real deal. And even someone as cold and hard as Corvaiz was no match to his innocence and purity. He really was a sweet boy who worked hard to be a scholar and could never bring himself to harm anyone…even to defend himself. It simply wasn’t in him to do harm. And I loved that that was what finally got him to thaw his cold, hard heart that had been frozen since his brother’s senseless death. That and his wolf literally screaming at him every moment he could “Mate!”
As I stated earlier, I had every doubt in the world that I would even like this book. I despised Corvaiz and his cruelty to Vash. I now understand what drove him to be that way. Do I forgive him for what he did? No!!! However I believe he did earn his redemption and I believe even the headmaster Julian, who I really liked in the first book, finally saw the good in him after being surrounded by Miles love. As for Mile’s bullies, they didn’t get nearly enough of a punishment as they deserved. I did wonder why someone as powerful as Corvaiz let them get away with their meanness for so long. It’s a wonder that Miles didn’t get hurt worse.
I do highly recommend that you read the first two books first but especially Vash’s story. These two stories are so closely linked and I don’t think you get the real story without the other. Fabulous and surprising book!
